We landed at Nonni's the day after my son had proposed to his girlfriend at Kirby Cove (she said yes!). The two of them live next door in Dublin and had heard good things about the place. We were able to score a table outside, thankfully under the shade of a tree, as it was a hot July day. The service was a bit slow to get to us (it was busy, even on a Monday), and he seemed a bit rushed, but overall we were well taken care of. I was very happy when I opened the menu to find an imaginative and varied array of fresh-food choices, including seafood and salads. I had the cobb salad with grilled chicken (minus the blue cheese - I know, I'm a wimp), and was delighted by the bounty of avocado, lovely greens, hefty bacon pieces (not nondescript "bits"), and the house vinaigrette that was green and pleasantly herbal tasting. It was an absolutely perfect lunch for me! My husband remembers the grilled salmon sandwich as "extraordinary," and the "kids" gave two thumbs up to the mussels & frites and the steak salad. It was a bit of a pricey meal but well worth it.

Duck Breast with risotto and roasted vegetables was great. The chef accommodated my shell fish allergy and cooked in a separate pan, it was a very good experience.

Nonni's Bistro is unique to Pleasanton. Chef Jon is from Iceland and his food reflects a taste of a European bistro. With wide windows that open to the street and outside dining, Nonni's offers breakfast, lunch and dinner with a flair. It is an intimate restaurant; the food is excellent and Sunday brunch includes bottomless Mimosa's. Things to try - the Chocolate Bread Pudding, the grilled eggs with Hollondaise, the skirt steak. Come enjoy this charming cafe any time of day.
