Quite fancy place with nice interior and good location in downtown San Mateo. The food was good but without "wow" effect. Rice balls - arancini - stuffed foie gras were very good, served with delicious salad. My concerns regard the filling which was probably frozen, certainly not fresh and not very tasty. Spaghetti was also below my expectations. The food presentation was nice and, unfortunately, it is the only good thing I can point out. Pasta was overdone and not fresh as well. Generously sprinkled ground black pepper had no aroma at all. Meatballs were not very meaty (more breadcrumbs than beef). I paid a lot for those two dishes so my rating cannot be higher than three points.
