We had made online reservations for this state park with no hook-ups. We thought we had reserved a specific site but later found out that we had been assigned a different one. We ended up finding a vacant site and stayed for two days. An RV dump is available. The sites are about 25' so we had to unhook our vehicle to park at the site. The park is close to Hearst Castle and the Elephand Seal Rookery. We would stay here again if we returned to the area.

Each time we are in the area we stop and check out the Elephant seals on the beach. Each season brings new insight into the lives of these amazing mammals. There is plenty of parking and a large walking path designed to get you the best views. There are docents always walking around the visitors just in case you have questions. I learn something new each time I visit. Well planned observation areas. A must stop!

My wife and I went to the State Park to observe the look from the Pier. We had an Amazing time. We were able to see sea otters , various species of birds and other marine soecies. The fishermen were busy catching fresh rock codfish from the pier. Beautiful place to unwind and take in the natural beauty!

We loved our stay here at the San Simeon Creek Campground. While it is right off the highway you do not need to cross over it to reach the beach as there is an under pass which takes you from the campground to the beach. This is a great spot to view wildlife, look for moonstones, or just walk on the beach.

It is located close to Cambria and San Simeon so you will have options for dining out if you choose.

The campground sites are nice and the facility has showers (you will need quarters to use them) that are well maintained.

I plan on coming back again soon.

Brought our granddaughters ages 8 & 12 to test out our camper. Big success. Easy walk down to the beach first afternoon, great rock hunting, photo opportunities. Beach was pretty windy and the water, not inviting but good for exploring - watch your step if you take the path back that has you walking over a pool of water on logs. I have bruises to attest to the unsteadiness of the log (or maybe it was just me - red face). We were in the upper campground with water and restrooms/showers and the spaces were comfortably spaced and nice canopy of trees. I wouldn't recommend the upper campground if you are in a tent, most of the spots seemed to have a slope. Fine if you have leveling on a camper. The lower campground (Washburn) appeared to be one large group. I don't know if it was a party, but if not, the spaces are pretty close together.

No issues with bugs - don't you love California? We drove back to Morro Bay to go kayaking - there are kayak rentals closer - at the San Simeon Pier, but it seemed that MB would be more interesting and easier with kids. Final day to Hearst Castle
