Hadn't been back to this restaurant in a couple of years. That was a mistake for us as living in Santa Barbara it is easy to get in the groove of one's regular 5-10 restaurants and Petit Valentien had unfortunately fallen off the radar. We have been missing out! Our evening was a weekday off-night and not busy with service very polite and efficient. The space is small and very atmospheric, much like a Parisian up-scale bistro albeit more spacious and generous seating than one finds with its French counterpart. Very nice presentations of the salmon and veal-proscuitto main entrees we ordered, both were perfectly prepared and very tasty. The menu is frequently changing, so no Daily Specials (which I find to be a better approach) and apparently on Sundays a Prix Fixe is offered which sounded very attractive. Good selection of wines, generous and correct servings with very reasonable prices.

Upon leaving we met the chef/owner and discovered the reason for the high quality and taste of the food. He is doing it all and has been for 8 years. Like having your own personal French chef preparing your meal. Call for reservations and be prepared to be pleased with your next meal.

We were looking for a place to eat and came across this restaurant. It was the first Thursday of the month in Santa Barbara and downtown was very busy. After looking at a number of restaurants we decided to walk in and try this one. We sat at the bar because it was so busy. We had a cheese plate while waiting to order and that was very good along with the bread that was served, sort of mini loafs, that were warm and delicious. I ordered the veal milanese and my wife had the cod. Both meals were very good. As I said it was very busy but we observed each wine glass was polished by the various wait staff before serving to the client. They were even polishing the silver before setting it on the tables. In conversation with the staff, they asked how we had found the place as it was known to locals but as it is small not usually found by visitors. It was by luck that we found it in the Arcadia off State street but well worth while seeking it out.

I have come to this restaurant on multiple occasions and I love it! Staff is friendly, ambiance is romantic, prices are fair and food is absolutely amazing! Here for a quick visit? Come to Le Petit Valentien. Also, it is in a very beautiful area of Santa Barbara... You truly feel as is you were walking through the streets of a European city. Only down side is that the menu does not vary from time to time.

This restaurant is in an inner courtyard. There are tables outside and a big open window if seated inside. There are other restaurants and shops along the walkway giving the feel of an old world village.
