From the unwelcoming staff, the fridge that had rust inside, the sink that overflowed, the bed that was very uncomfortable, the outdated and worn furniture, this place is a dump. The free breakfast was stale wooden bagels and rotten fruit...

Reading, and going over pm work while sitting in the bed. I see a mouse running around the kitchen, to the bed area. I jump on the bed,and wait it out.I begin to gather my items, because i cannot stay in a room that I see mouse running around, let alone turn the lights out to sleep. I called around and went to a hotel overnight.
I came back in the am to complain of the situation, and she never even ccobsider refunding some of the money for the 1/2 day I was there. The owner sta yes dhe would have stayed in the room. Really. Because that would be so relaxing, where there is one therre is another.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a mini getaway. We absolutely loved it. The rooms are all unique, remodeled, and decorated beautifully. The cottages/inn used to be an old chicken farm and is over 100 years old. Our room had a small view of the ocean and the deck was perfect for viewing at sunset with a glass of wine. We went right after labor day and there were few people there...perfect for our getaway. Summer time is usually packed with many families as all the rooms are suites. The proximity to the small little beach was so convenient. We especially enjoyed the couple that manage the property. They made our stay even more enjoyable. Just about every room comes with a well stocked kitchenette of some sort. A small, but satisfying continental breakfast is served every morning. We were fortunate to get a tour of many of the rooms. We will definitely be staying again. Fantastic!!!

Just an overnight stay on our way up the coast. The location and access to the beach we found to be quite quirky and endearing. We like to experience a range of different accommodations and this fit the bill. The accommodation is very good quality and pleasant and the recommended restaurant was within four minutes walk and outstanding. The beach is quite literally a few steps away although it is a cove rather than a strip beach, which we found more attractive. Highly recommended.

OEI is an attractive inn with a mix of cottages and rooms (we had the latter). Décor is very pleasant in a seashore meets Ikea way. Toiletries, towels and tv were good; bedding was adequate. Room was large and immaculately clean; ours included a full kitchen (there's also a grill available outside). Kim and Aaron were super friendly and helpful. The inn is about half a block from a small, so-so beach, and 3-4 blocks from a long, wide beach, about a mile from the Boardwalk and just a bit more from downtown. Rooms have fans but no a/c, but this is only an issue in the hottest weather. There's a nice deck w/views for breakfast or BYO drinks (some rooms have decks and views, but ours did not; not clear if this is reflected in room prices). Prices are on the higher side, but this may be more of a Santa Cruz issue. There's some room to upgrade in the quality and quantity of breakfast, including the coffee. All that said, I'd definitely consider staying here again if in the SC area.
