The hotel and staff and location were great. We fully enjoyed the common Areas and fire pits! The free coffee and tea were great. We enjoyed the continental breakfast provided. The dinner options and drinks were also a nice surprise.

Stayed here the day before thanksgiving, it had just snowed 8 inches. Right across the street from the Lake.

They did a great job of turning an average flop house hotel into a very hip place and maxed out its potential. Small but clean rooms decorated nicely, bathrooms totally updated, new energy-efficient heaters, etc. They have a community 'party room' with fireplace and TV, it will accomodate 30 people easily. There was no party but a nice place to hang and the fireplace took the chill out of our toes. The lobby area is very nicely done with two-sided firelplace, very friendly and helpful staff, happy hour with awesome craft beers on tap, nice breakfast. We drove to Squaw Valley for dinner, it took about 13 minutes, even closer to Alpine Meadows. I will definitely stay here next time I want to be in North Shore.

Poor quality HVAC system. You have decided to attach the system to the back wall of the room (we went outside to the back of our room to confirm). Unfortunately, the system sends noise and vibrations into the room when it is running, It sounds like a large truck is idling outside your room, with the low rumbling. You need to decide how to repair the problem: 1) isolate the motors off the wall, or 2) put the best anti-vibration bushings at the base of the unit. Don't stay in this room until the problem is fixed and tested. I suspect the other rooms in this area have the same problem. Also, why lock the common room all-day and night? Basecamp can do better.

V7672CFmattg,

Thank you for your review and bringing this item to our attention. I want to assure you that we have come up with a temporary solution on the noise and removed the buildup of ice and snow directly on the unit that will make an increased noise. We are fixing this permanently through a long term solution which will relocate the HVAC unit entirely. In the meantime we are all set to go.

We want to thank you for your business with us and hope that we can earn your next stay with us. If we can be of further service, please contact me here at the hotel.

Warm Regards,

Michael Peña

Loud fan noise in 120 intermittently at all hours. Appeared to come from back wall of room, was not audible in the adjacent lounge room. I wouldn't stay in the same room another time due to the volume.
Office apparently doesn't open until 7:30. 7:00 is not that early, it was a minor inconvenience to wait around.
Included breakfast was basic but good. Juice was good; would have appreciated some fresh fruit too.

We had a very good stay. The only drawback was the light that shows the temperature on the in-room HVAC unit. If that lit up temperature could be turned off it would make sleeping easier. The alarm clock with the iPhone connection was nice.
