A friend & I were recently riding our bicycles from San Francisco up the coast, then across to CA wine country. There are not a lot of hotel options along the coast before reaching the Russian River, so we chose the Valley Ford Hotel. Although we weren't really sure what to expect, we were pleasantly surprised by the accommodations, the bar & restaurant, and the graciousness of the staff. Nothing fancy in this small town, but it was a perfect stop in preparation for continuing our journey.

Comfortable bed, VERY clean room, nice but simple restoration of an 1860s structure. The family-owned and run atmosphere is very relaxed but attentive to any communication. It was a perfect place to break our trip up the north coast. Restaurant downstairs but also a small fridge in room (we did not sample the restaurant).

Room Tip: The hotel is small (think of it as a large house), so all the rooms are about the same; have to climb stairs to reach them.

With the summer heat in Sacramento, we were looking for a one night getaway by the Coast. Have driven through Valley Ford a million times on our way to Bodega Bay but never really stopped. After a chilly day on the beach (which we loved!) it was a perfect spot for a nice summer evening. Enjoyed watching the sun set while we sipped wine on the front porch of the hotel, then walked down the street for a delicious Italian dinner at Dinucci's. Rooms are small, but quaint, with antique furnishings and very nice linens. Nice little continental breakfast set outside of your room. Would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: There is a small fridge in the room, perfect for leftovers!

Booked a room at this hotel built 1864 now fully updated to avoid the crowds at nearby Bodega Bay. Rooms were clean ,beds comfy rooms had refrigerators but no TV or radio reception. Enjoyed being unhooked from those entertainment sources for a day. the nights here were super quiet got a great nights sleep on those comfortable beds. One outstanding element everyone working either the outstanding restaurant Oysters Rockerfeller to the hotel were extremely welcoming. While waiting for room met a couple of men sitting on the porch and they struck up a conversation like a old acquaintance. Later learned one of the men's wife worked at the restaurant. Even the kitchen workers greet the guests ,quite a unique experience super friendly people and being unplugged from our electronics. WiFi provided but reception was poor so I just left it off for our stay still a very pleasant experience had a great meal and room.

Room Tip: WiFi not accessible

We arrived on bicycles day 17 of an 18 day tour visiting from the UK having cycled 106 miles today (1400 in total). And although the fact that no one was here and the restaurant wasn't open as it was a Monday it was truly lovely!

A beautiful bright room (1) with a HUGE shower and an opportunity to sit outside and chill! This was helped by having a good grocery store across the way with a good selection of beers!

So we chilled!

A really lovely place - couldn't of asked for more for our last day of our adventure before we hit San Francisco!
