“Camping & off-roading”

Four Mile Recreation Area
Reviewed 13 June 2016 via mobile

Great wilderness exposure with drive up first come campsites. Plenty of places to find a beautiful secluded site.

Off-roading good for all (Trucks, jeeps, ATV, dirt bikes, Etc...)

Views are extraordinary with the collegiate peaks in the back drop. Nice rock formations & trees. Terrain varies from evergreen mountains to a Moab-like scene. A true Colorado treasure.

Four Mile is a scenic park to visit, just north of Buena Vista CO.A variety of off road vehicles trails, many scenic views, and a variety of alpine and other tree line areas. One trail is abut 4 miles long and takes you to the back area. If you drive an ATV or other off road vehicle, be careful. If you go down a hill too fast and it a big rut at the bottom, which occur due to rains, you can lose control. Be safe and enjoy the area. Also be sure to remove all trash created during your visit. I realize for 99% of the people reading this it is a non issue, but some people do not take care of the beauty. A trip to see it all could take 3 to 4 hours at a leisurely pace. Be sure to take a map and show courtesy to other ATV riders, walkers and bikers. Enjoy.

Love taking the kids away from screens. This is a great place! Nice trails for hiking, great access from the road, lots of rocks to scramble around. Watch out for cactus though!

4 Mile (both north and south) ATV trails range from easy to challenging, for 50" and under ATVs. 4 Mile south is a little more extensive than the north side, and it's easy to put in 50-75 miles in one day. The trails are usually well marked, so getting lost isn't an issue. Parking on the south side is easiest off 307/185, near the castles.

Lots of open space and wide trails to accommodate all types of outdoor recreation from trail running to mtn biking to camping to climbing and more. Even with lots of atvs the noise is minimal and the sense of connecting with nature is unspoiled.
