Description: La Loma began as a family-owned Mexican restaurant in a small brick house just a block away from what became our landmark location for over thirty years, on 26th Ave in Denver. Sonny Brinkerhoff loved the original restaurant, and in 1981, he and his son, William, relocated La Loma from its small house to its flagship location where it has resided ever since. The building was created by combining three Victorian miners’ houses dating from the 1800s, called The Colonial, The Victoria, and The Cantina. The hilltop restaurant with a view of downtown soon became a Denver staple. Sonny and William, along with Savina Mendoza, created a menu of Tex-Mex and Mexican favorites that showcased the flavors of the Southwest, featuring award-winning dishes like our renowned green chili, signature margaritas, and fresh tortillas, which are made on display in the dining room. Now, La Loma has moved to the heart of downtown across from the historic Brown Palace. We offer the same menu and many of the decorative touches our loyal guests have loved for decades including exposed brick with wooden accents, large, stained glass windows, and the photo of Savina Mendoza. “The restaurant is filled with character and charm,” according to Mark Brinkerhoff, William’s son, who joined his father in running the restaurant in 2005. La Loma’s famed barrel-aged tequila is still in the bar, and the atmosphere continues to be cozy and warm, welcoming parties of any size to enjoy their favorite dishes.

The green chili is awesome. Whatever entree you choose I recommend getting it covered in the green chili. The homemade tortillas are delicious. The service was great.

Dinner at La Loma was an enjoyable well prepared meal in a very nice setting downtown. The chips and salsa brought right away are terrific. Mixed fajitas were really good and the portions are generous. The shrimp are jumbo and cooked perfectly. The sauces are particularly delicious.

We moved to Colorado Springs from Arizona late last year and have been hungry for good Mexican food ever since. Everybody in Colorado Springs tells us there is no good Mexican here, BUT, if you are ever in Denver . . . Well we were in Denver last Saturday and specifically headed to La Loma for lunch after our son, daughter-in-law and her parents recommended it highly. Fajitas are a speciality, which my son and daughter-in-law had and they were delicious. My husband had the chimichanga and I had beef brisket tacos. Best tacos I've ever had in my entire life. Food is delicious, service is excellent and the restaurant is nicely decorated and has a great atmosphere. On the way out I spoke with someone who mentioned they are opening a location in Castle Rock very soon and we are looking forward to it's opening. Maybe they will think about a Colorado Springs location in the future!

Service was great and the food was incredible. The guacamole was the simplest and best we've had anywhere. Menu is different from your average southwestern restaurant. We had Tequila Shrimp and Pork Chile Smothered Chile Rellenos. Both meals were delicious. We also enjoyed house-made sangria & fresh-squeezed margaritas, as well as delicious churros for dessert.

The place was packed, but we were seated quickly and our food came out in less than 10 minutes after ordering. My husband had the combo fajitas and I had a ground beef quesedilla and both were delicious. Margaritas were very good, but quite pricey. I would definitely go back.
