During a road trip from Denver to Grand Junction, we decided to stop in Glenwood Springs for lunch. Our host took us to Chomps, a delightful, local delicatessen/sandwich shop. When we arrived, the parking lot was jammed…always a good sign. We also noticed the outdoor seating area which allowed us to enjoy the warm, sunny weather. Notwithstanding Chomps apparent popularity, we were able to place our order quickly and begin our lunch without much delay.

Chomps offers a broad selection of made to order sandwiches. Customers have the option to have their sandwich made on a 3, 7 or 12-inch roll. The rolls have the look of a well fashioned baguette but lack the French bread chewiness such that the sandwich fillings remain in the roll as it is being eaten. The rolls are terrific. Our group enjoyed the Italian, BLT and pulled pork sandwiches. Each was expertly made and delicious.

Chomps is a tasty, quick, and casual option for lunch in Glenwood Springs. We highly recommend it to all.

It doesn’t look like much from the outside so you might be tempted to keep going and not bother going in. Stop by, though, as these were the best sandwiches we had on our trip! The pulled pork option was a monster, and really juicy and tasty. They might not be the cheapest, but they’re definitely good value.

Nothing fancy here, just good food. A variety of sandwichs and soups are offered, as well as thing like pickels and hard boiled eggs. You order from the counter and find a table and listen for your name to be called, There are some tables outside, near a locals sand volleyball court, and seating inside. Well worth the stop

I don't mind a Jimmy John's once in a while but the prime Rib sandwich with horse radish and pickle is worth driving through the detour to get. I came here, I ate and I was happy.
I try to support the awesome local businesses while the bridge closure is making it harder on them. If you're just passing through you can exit 116 grab a great sandwich and easily get back on I 70.
