On a recent visit to Colorado, we decided to stop in Golden for lunch before visiting the Coors Brewery. A lady in the Visitor's Center suggested the Bridgewater Grill, located a short walk down the street in the Golden Hotel. A charming, 19th century hotel, the Bridgewater has large windows offering a great view of the town's main street. We were greeted by the gracious and efficient Lori, who took our drink orders and described the daily lunch special; the ultimate grilled cheese sandwich with a cup of homemade tomato soup. The Special more than lived up to it's name. Grilled Parmesan-crusted sour dough bread, perfectly toasted, and topped with parmesan, cheddar and pepper cheeses and grilled bacon; and fresh avocado slices on the side, was accompanied by a cup of delicious, creamy tomato soup. Yum!! Lori took our orders and returned with our drinks: iced tea and a cup of steaming coffee with cream. As a coffee lover in Colorado on a damp and chilly afternoon I truly appreciated that tall, hot cup of coffee. We enjoyed eating our lunch in a quiet room with some pleasant piano music playing in the background.
The Bridgewater is known for it's creative, award-winning soups including pork green chili, roasted corn bisque and gluten free vegetable. We definitely plan to return to the Bridgewater on our next visit to Golden and highly recommend you do the same.
P.s. Be sure and get a "golden ticket" from the Golden Visitors Center. :-
