“Disappointing”

James M. Robb - Colorado River State Park

There are many "sections" of this trail. Maybe we picked the wrong one. It was not scenic at all. The area fronting the river was an industrial park. The view to one side was the river which was littered with large chunks of broken concrete, and the other side was the industrial park. We walked for about a mile and turned around. It was rather depressing!

Took my two Grandsons fishing here during their spring break. We fished off the shore and on the fishing pier. Had our picnic lunch, walked on trails around the lake and generally had a great time. The atmosphere was laid back and relaxed. Ample parking, clean uncrowded, restrooms available.

As far as state parks are concerned this is one of the better ones, easy to find off I-70 ,we all enjoyed our stay, nice camp site ,you may want to go in the weekdays less people .its kind of a place all to its own,its a little different from other states parks ,but in a good way.nice scenery!

A lovely stadium. It looks so great with the setting of the mountains around it. It is a must see when visiting Grand Junction

This modern, well laid out, park is a half-mile off I-70, for easy on/off, although I fail to see the engineering need for two back-to-back roundabouts right off the freeway. The park rangers were friendly. The maintenance staff cleaned and raked every site as it was vacated. Most are great paved and cement pad PULL THRU's with their own ramada, The sites are far apart. Reservations can be made (and are recommended) through the Colorado State Parks web site. The Colorado River runs along the park and there are fishing opportunities. Lots of restaurants and gas stations in the area. There is no wi-fi, but plenty of Verizon service. This rates a top stay with us!
