Just did the bike with 2 boys 10 and 11 years old. Georgia views. 3 waterfalls. Beautiful flowers and views of the whole canyon. The whole loop is about 4 hours if you have kids in tow. You can do half if you want as main street is the loop divider. You will be sore after and will need to soak in the hot springs if you don't already do a lot of hiking. I clocked about 2k feet of elevation change and about 6 miles. Well worth it though.

Hiked the Ouray perimeter trail and was not disappointed. Hike offers great views of Ouray from every side. Previous reviews I had read showed the trail to be 4.5 miles, but I believe they have added to the trail and my hike was nearly 7 miles length. It has about 800 - 1,000 feet vertical gain, so it is a good workout for lungs and heart. Some decent exposure in some areas, so you need to be watchful.

Do it early morning, it gets incredibly hot up there later. Take plenty of water especially if you do the whole thing, you just think you're getting to the end and it goes on again but really really worth it and a great easy start to hiking in the area.
Kids didn't want to come so we dropped them into the Hot Springs, walked across the road and started it from there .

I loved loved loved this trail. I was expecting a simple "flat" walk around the perimeter of the town, what I found was certainly a perimeter trail but in the surrounding mountains with view looking down into the town. The trail may be a little sketchy for very young kids or some older folks. The trail does have some hills and a bit of single track. If you are looking for a great casual hike while in town this one is a must.

This is a pretty tiring hike for people who live at lower elevations, but if you go slowly and bring water, it's really spectacular. You can see all the high points around Ouray - cascade falls, box canyon (but not the actual falls there), Ice park, baby bath tubs, and much more. The new additions make it probably 6 miles. We missed one little corner, and took 3.5-4 hours to finish the loop. The trail is well maintained and signposted, except at the 7th street bridge (we got confused there). Thanks to the Ouray Train Group!
