This is a unique experience for Ice-Climbing. Get up, walk out of your hotel room and within 15 minutes you can be climbing on ice. Most, if not all of the routes can be top-roped, making even a difficult climb attemptable by a beginneer (like me). I did not hire a guide, by brother and his climbing partner are expert climbers, and we had a great time. I have done this trip twice, but it was the first time for my husband. There are guides available in town and most of them will give beginners lessons and rent equipment. It is advisable to purchase plastic boots however. You will be more comfortable in them. (If you are the type of person who enjoys ice-climbing you will find other uses for your plastic boots.)
