We enjoyed our one night stay here. The owner was vey polite and nice and recommended a place for us to eat breakfast. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. We were surprised at how quiet the room was. The bathroom was very dated with no shelf space, but the water was hot and the shower curtain was new. We were happy there was a refrigerator and microwave available in the room. Very military family friendly. My rating is based on value for cost. For the cheap price, you get a nice room.

Stayed here during a forest fire and all other hotel rooms booked. "Better than camping". So I'll be appreciative. Thin walls. Dark rooms, poor outlets, towels frayed, etc. at least was inexpensive. Easy to find on main road. Kind of a "funny experience".

We stayed there once before and wasn't to thrilled about it.
We decided to stay there again not long ago and found out there was a new couple that just started taking care of it and they were so nice and helpful.
They both do the cleaning and the husband does the maintenance that needs done and the stuff that doesn't look good.
I think they will make a big difference for the cosmetic and care for the Hotel as long as they are treated good.
I only seen one problem that was odd and that is if you make a reservation the phone call goes to a older woman that doesn't live around there.

The room I had was very basic and had a musty smell. The shower was very small and difficult to use the toilet because of the large paper holder hanging over it. Electric wiring hanging down the walls. The bed was large and comfortable and clean but the old fashioned beige colour of the bedding did give it a slightly unattractive appearance . Obviously a favourite with hunters.

My husband I are from Durango Colorado, and we really enjoy our stay here. We have stayed here at least four or five times in the last 10 years and just recently last month, and really enjoyed our stay (again).

Yes it is rustic, and the showers are small, and they work just fine also (Good water pressure) and did not run out of hot water. Nice little sink in the bathroom and toilet .

Our room had a stove with oven, small portable fridge and a 12 cup coffee maker.
Nice flat screen TV, with Dish TV and a small kitchen sink.

Also one double bed and a twin bed. They do have a couple bigger rooms, which we have stayed in, in 2007and was just as comfortable.

The owner is a very sweet lady and the help is also very kind and willing to get u anything u need.

We have two small dogs and they were also very welcomed.

People out there, should not judge a book by it's cover. And where in the world u people out there saw updated rooms etc. is a total line of bull.

If u people want upper class motels u need to stay in Denver or maybe Walden isn't the place for u.

Walden is a neat old west town, with beautiful country and friendly people. Also beautiful lakes to fish. The state park is in Gould which is 20 miles from Walden, and u can see moose almost anytime.

There is not a reason in the world to slander this Hoover Round Up Motel. It's old and rustic and a neat place to stay

Beth T

Room tip: All one level, and quiet for sleeping, pretty much all day.
