I was with a party of six for dinner on Saturday night November 12th. We started in their cocktail area as we were early for our reservation. The bartender did a great job in preparing martinis and mixed drinks. It was a good start to a great evening.

We started our dinning experience with appetizers that include shrimp cocktail (5 large shrimp) and clams casino. The appetizers were delicious. The six of us each ordered different meals that included steak, pork chops, chicken parmigiana, veal saltimbocca and pasta dishes. The meals were prepared perfectly and we were all thoroughly pleased. The meals were also served with salad and bread. Although it was a Saturday evening we never felt rushed to finish our meal and leave. Our waiter was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about pairing wine with all of our meals.
We all found the ambience of the restaurant to be very nice even with the televisions showing the movie The Godfather.

We all agreed we will be going back to Goodfellas.

Brought our friends to try one of our favorite restaurants. We live about 45 mins away, so it was a special trip. We arrived at 5:00 on Saturday for our reservation. At that time, across the street is free parking. We requested to sit on the first floor. There are large TV screens playing....Goodfellas! They are in the background and not obtrusive.

The restaurant filled up quickly which surprised us at that hour (make sure you have reservations). Hubby always starts with the Crab Cocktail as an appetizer. It's something he treats himself to each timed he comes here. He and the male friend enjoyed the Pork Osso Buco over risotto which was o the specials menu. It looked awesome! The female friend had her usual of ravioli, and was pleasantly surprised there were 8 or 9 ravioli's on her plate and she chose the Sunday Sauce to go over it, but you could have had Marinara, Vodka, Pesto, Alfredo (and I'm sure a few more). I had Beggars Purse which are similar to ravioli, but had little tiny bits of pear chopped inside with the cheese and served in a brown sauce. I would have liked the sauce a little thicker to coat the pasta a bit more, but it was delicious (and I brought some home as leftovers and it was good the second night too).

We like an Allegrini Valpolicello wine on their menu that we haven't found at any other restaurant. We also had the Caesar Salad, their complimentary bruschetta, and the Cheesecake and Tartuffe for dessert with cappuccino.

Will definitely be back!

We took advantage of Goodfellas' participation in New Haven's Restaurant Week to dine there with our out-of-state guests. The fixed price menu allowed for many choices in the starter, entree, and dessert categories, so we assumed (correctly) that there would be something to satisfy everyone's tastes. What we hadn't realized is that, unlike many other participating restaurants, Goodfellas would include additional treats gratis: delicious bruschetta, a well-dressed green salad, and a glass of champagne at the meal's end. Our friends were so impressed with the quality and quantity of our meals, not to mention the extremely professional, attentive, and friendly service, that we earned serious friendship points by taking them to Goodfellas.
Three of us ordered the delicious stuffed mushrooms as appetizers and the perfectly prepared, fork-tender beef tenderloin in Gorgonzola sauce; the fourth tried the salad with meatballs appetizer and the chicken Parmesan and pronounced both to be delectable. The Goodfellas cupcake was downright decadent, while the tiramisu was light and expertly balanced. Drinks were a bit pricey but, again, expertly prepared.
The regular menu is quite extensive and fairly expensive, at least compared with other Italian restaurants in the area. However, the atmosphere, the quality of service, and the consistently good food make this a particularly desirable dining experience. If you're lucky enough to get a reservation during Restaurant Week with its fixed price menu, be sure to take advantage of it! You can't go wrong.

We live about an hour away from New Haven and although we had traffic getting there, because of rain, the meal made it worth the trip!

Service was excellent. 7 people with no service issues with our dinner.
