Attended a birthday dinner with family. Food was generally very good. Cosy traditional pub, but with a more open restaurant section which was perfect for long tables of bigger parties.

We went to the wine dinner billed as 'Weird & Wonderful'. The wines were chosen from Slovenia,Turkey, China, Chile, Croatia, Uruguay and Brazil. They were all good or very good which you would not normally associate with the country. Each course was accompanied by a selected wine. We also had a briefing on each of the wines by Gary who did an amazing job . I don't know how the Hare & Hounds continue to serve such excellent food and this evening was no exception. and has to have been one of the best. The food presentation was very good as was the service as usual.

We love the Hare and Hounds as a local pub/restaurant, so decided to book it as the reception venue for our baby's Christening. Unfortunately the 'Beast from the East' snow blizzard managed to hit the same weekend, meaning a number of guests dropped out at the last minute. Fortunately the pub were incredibly flexible, and allowed us to put some of the money we'd set aside for food towards the bar instead - meaning that the guests who did manage to attend were exceptionally well fed and watered! The catering was delicious - I heard nothing but compliments about the buffet - and the staff (led by Nick and Vero) were great. I'd happily have another party here in a heartbeat!

Serving good food and local beers plus some great alternatives. Friday's mostly has live music. Summer months great outside seating!

Firstly I would like to say that our visit here was pleasant and the staff helpful and efficient. Sadly we found the cutlery and particularly the glasses to be very unclean. Mostly marked with water marks but the glasses were very murky and seemed to have a film over some of them. We had to clean the ones on the table before we used them but the ones from the bar were the same. We asked for water which came in a nice chilled water jug but this too had gravy drips down the side of it. This was changed promptly when we asked. I am hoping that there is something wrong with their dish washer and is not the norm as it certainly put us off of drinking our drinks. The food was quite nice but the beef very tough today. But as I said at the beginning we had a nice time and the setting is pleasant.

Dear Alison G

Apologies for that, your table was set too quickly during a busy Mothers Day turnaround point, we have been having glasswasher problems but that that's no excuse.

All nice and shiny now, hope to see you again.

Kind regards
Nick
