This hotel was easy to find. And seems to be in a better part of town. This is a basic place. 3 star. And we found the bathroom simple and easy to use. The tv is older. And the bed is a bit too hard for us. The simple layout of the room made it easy to unpack. Parking was free. And the wifi is strong. The beach is just past the round about. It is called praia de ingles. Might be able to surf there. The beach can be seen from the top floor breakfast.

Although the service is not so good, the rooms are clean and they have a good breakfast and dinner for an affordable price. One problem: you can hear everything people are speaking in the others rooms, if they speak a little outlod.
Ingleses beach is not so beautiful, but is near Santinho beach which is one of the more beautiful beaches in the Florianópolis Island. If you want to spend more money, you can choose a hotel in another beach such as Jurerê International beach, or if you want to stay close a lot of young people, you can choose Mole beach.

Room Tip: Higher floors are not so good because you can hear people walking in the top floor restaurant.

Very good meeting and training rooms.
Extremely helpful and service oriented staff.
Very good infrastructure compared to other hotels in the area. Foods is good but it could be better.
Pool gets chilly if it's not summer.
Wifi is limited to reception area but they said that they have plans to expand to all rooms.

I'd been travelling the best part of 24 hours by the time I arrived at the Porto Sol. Quick, efficient, but relaxed check-in. Now, Brazil in mid July is winter, so this was very much out of season. For those you needed the beach and surf, it's 5 minutes walk. A couple of restaurants nearby - we tried the Costa Norte twice; the rest are a 10 minute walk in Ingleses.

The room was spartan but comfortable - everything is oriented towards cool - tiled floors, marble benching; I expect the air conditioner would do cool but not warm when the outside temperature dropped to 7C. Good wired internet connection. While we were resident, the hotel bar did not open, but you can buy beer at the supermercado at the end of the street. Plenty of room for supplies in the fridge.

My room (on the 1st floor, above the entrance) was quiet; there was an extra single bed, and an interconnecting door to the next room. My colleague in the next room could hear my Skype calls, and I his, so the door is acoustically transparent. However, I had a good night's sleep, in spite of the jetlag. A toilet cistern overflow was swiftly and efficiently dealt with by the hotel.

It's 30 minutes by taxi to Florianopolis, and the local bus service appears to be baroque. Probably a good choice for a family holiday, but an eccentric, if memorable, choice for a conference.
