I’m starting to notice that the IHG brand is a cut above your typical freeway offramp hotel. This candlewood suites is a well-run hotel. The room was clean, bed was comfortable, service was great. Seems like a lot of the hotel rooms I stay in either smell like bad perfume or like gasoline fumes, but this one was odor free. The room was a little dated, for example I couldn’t find a USB plug to charge my phone. There’s no continental breakfast, but I’m not a fan of the typical hotel breakfast buffet anyway, unless it’s a high-end hotel. Overall, a pretty good place to stay for a night or two.

We spent a weekend here and had a positive experience. Kyle was our front desk agent and gave us all of the information we needed to have a nice stay. The rooms were clean and had everything we needed. However, the cable TV in our room was broken as the coaxial cable behind the TV was broken off and could not be connected back. I keep a Roku on me but the WiFi was not reliable to stream, so I used my phone as a hotspot. Also, the heating/AC unit had some issues in the middle of the night. The unit says it has a 'smart feature' to detect when people are in the room. This feature clearly does not work 100%. We had the A/C unit on and it kept turning off or blowing air that was not cool. There are plenty of places to eat and things to do in the immediate area.

Nice stay. Quite no issues. Good service from Kyle, friendly and professional. Only one issue. The WiFi at this hotel is subpar at best. To the Mgt of Candlewood Suites Newark South - University Area, an IHG Hotel, do better with the WiFi. Your staff and employees are doing great. Do your part and and provide better WiFi for your customers. Thanks
