This is a beautiful Victorian house located 30 seconds walk to the beach. The house is so charming, with a wrap-around deck and rocking chairs where you can enjoy complimentary coffee and fruits from the garden each morning, or your own drinks and snacks in the evening. We have stayed several times over the past two years and love every stay in Haide's home. As other reviews have mentioned, there is a shared toilet on each floor of the house, and two outdoor shower cabins in the garden. Haide was very clear about this on the phone before we made our first booking. Yes the towels are a little small and old, but everything is completely spotless, plus there is a fridge in each room which is very useful. I find the rooms totally cute - they are in keeping with the Victorian era of the house - but you might want to stay on the second or third floor, because the first can be noisier. This is not a 5 star resort - and for $100 a night don't expect one - but it is a totally charming escape from the daily grind, in an excellent location.

Where else can a couple stay at the best beach town in America, in the beach block, a hundred yards from the boardwalk, for around $100/night in a place that is immaculately, spotlessly clean and generally well-kept? With off-street parking right at your door? With really REAL old-fashioned charm and hospitality and a front porch where you can wind down and watch the world go by? Come on people, take a step back in time to when the world was unplugged and people actually had time to enjoy life and talk to each other. Put away your phone and live for once. If you have time and the opportunity, spend some time talking with Haide and, if he's feeling up to it, Bill Earl, and you will hear some wonderful stories. We own a beach house nearby and when it's rented but we want to spend a weekend at the beach, this is where we stay, so that should tell you something.

Room Tip: Rooms on the west side won't hear the screams from the rides at Funland.

Before WiFi and cable TV...there was a time when only sailors sported a tattoo....and people who rocked were sitting on the front porch in chairs. If you want to revive that era in a more casual setting than in a stuffy Victorian Hotel then this may be the place for you. Great location in the heart of town with parking. The beach and board walk are less than half a block away with great shopping and restaurants. Meticulously clean and neat. Verrrry budget friendly. The bathrooms are shared between several rooms on each hallway and all showers are outside. The bathrooms and showers have always been clean. The showers are ceramic tiled 'indoor type' showers. They keep the sand and humidity outside. A hose is available to wash off feet and beach chairs. A clothesline is available for wet towels and suits. Refrigerator and A.C. in all rooms. The front porch has rocking chairs, tables and games. There is no TV or wifi. The rooms are furnished with servicable older furniture. I have been coming here off and on for years and hope to continue to enjoy this lovely respite.

Holly Haven, run by Bill and Haide Earl, is a great, inexpensive place to stay at Rehoboth Beach. If you can handle shared bath and outside shower (private) this is a great choice. House is on ocean block and parking is free. Enjoy the large front porch with tables for eating your carry-out. We have come here for several years and feel like Haide and Bill are close relatives!!

My wife and I were looking to stay in Rehoboth Beach right after the July 4th holiday and prices for hotels within a reasonable walk to the beach were generally north of $300/night. We stumbled upon Holly Haven which had a vacancy at a comparably dirt cheap $90/night rate. The place is just a block away from the boardwalk and also includes free parking which was crucial at this busy time of year. The room was a small room with a double bed, easily accomodating for two people, and had a ceiling fan and a window unit a/c so the temperature was quite comfortable. There is no TV or Wifi, however, though you're at the beach so that really shouldn't be a big concern for most. More notably there is no bathroom in the room itself--the house has three floors with 4-5 rooms per floor and a shared half-bathroom on each floor. This never proved to be a problem for us, I waited once for a few minutes to use the bathroom but could have wandered down to one of the other floors if I needed to, but I could see where this would be a concern for some. Also, there are only two showers and they are located outdoors (they are covered with a roof), again a bit of an inconvenience but in my opinion worth the low cost (I'd recommend bringing your own towels though, towels were provided but they were small). This was our first time at Holly Haven but we met a few others staying there who were repeat customers, one of whom had been coming since the 60s, and if we end up back in Rehoboth again I do imagine that my wife and I will be repeat customers as well.

Bottom Line: If you're looking for a reasonably-priced place at a perfect location near the beach and can deal with shared bathrooms/showers and a lack of some other amenities that you'd get at a hotel, I would very highly recommend Holly Haven.
