We have just arrived home after a 10 night stay at this hotel. All started out so well, the welcome glass of fizz at reception, pleasant and easy check in and a lovely room. Even the first few days were good. However, half way through our stay and after a very late night at an engagement party, we decided to have an afternoon siesta. We were awoken by a noise. It took me a couple of seconds to realise that it was a knock on the door. Less than a few more seconds and before I had time to get up, there was another knock. Before I had even time to get to the door, so may be 5 seconds, he had opened the door and was in the room declaring he was to check the mini bar. I told him that he needs to give time for someone to answer the door before he comes bowling in. Strangely, I have been looking through other reviews and see that a lady had exactly the same problem and the reply from the manager was that this kind of situation would be dealt with. Clearly it hasn't been dealt with!! My partner was still on the bed and she had no chance if she had needed to to put clothes on, luckily she was full clothed but if not, there would have been serious trouble. Second problem was that on our last day being Sunday just gone, we decided we would have breakfast on the patio at the restaurant. On Sundays breakfast is until 11am. We arrived at 10.50, sat at a table but no one came to speak to us even though the staff had clearly seen us arrive. When I got up to ask for some service, I was told that we were too late as breakfast is until 11am. He showed me his
watch which said 10.57am so I told him it was still before 11am. I was told again we were too late. We were furious and went straight to concierge to complain. Naively, I expected some positive response and assistance, but no, all they did was to try and suggest a restaurant in the town to go to!!! Shocking for a 5 star hotel. I did learn later that we shouldn't have just sat a table without being shown to one, which I accept, but all the staff were walking past us and no one said a word. Also, as previously said, it was still before 11am. It says that breakfast is served until 11am,, not that you get kicked out at 11am. Lastly, we played golf on our last day, so I advised the check out staff and they said they would do the bill while we were out. By the time we got back at around 3pm, the money had already been taken from our account. No problem, but yesterday, they had sent us a revised bill with a bottle of water taken from the mini bar during our stay that they had failed to put on the original bill. Come on St Regis, it cost you more to raise another bill and cost us more due to transaction charges with a UK card. It was a real disappointment as the hotel is beautiful and we loved our room, but not sure we would return.
