“A Wonderful Glimpse of Nature”

Green Cay Nature Center and Wetlands

Green Cay Nature Center and Wetlands is a wonderful way to experience nature and especially observe those birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians who inhabit this wetland. On this day, we were fortunate to be a part of a docent led tour by our guide Linda who pointed out and explained the various inhabitants as we walked along the easily navigated boardwalk. This was not the first time we visited this Palm Beach County nature center and will not be our last. Each visit offers a different perspective on the wonders of nature.

A pleasant boardwalk with good wildlife viewing opportunities. Well done conservation project by the local utility. AND, it is free.

Amazing piece of nature hidden in suburbia. Lots of wildlife. The boardwalks and well maintained and easy to walk on. Places to sit and rest along the path. I have seen tons of different birds (I am not a birder, but it is a popular birding spot), alligators, turtles, snapping turtles, snakes, butterflies, dragonflies, and more. Sunrise is a great time of day to enjoy. It is very crowded on weekend. I come here frequently to get away from the hectic pace of life.

Best ever! We have spent good money in Toronto Zoo, Hong Kong's Wetland, etc., for a momentary glimpse of some distant common bird, often times unable to find these small creatures. Here in Green Cay, wetland creatures big and small are everywhere, in the water, in the sky, behind the bushes ... in full display in full 360-degree immersive experience. We saw three gators basking in the sun, predatory birds in the sky in the water, turtle with its shell covered in moss, baby ducklings following mother duck, etc.. This is another Florida surprise high for us and it is free!! Courtesy of a family so many years ago in the interest of public enjoyment. This is well worth a visit for any family young and old. Remember to bring your SLR camera with telephoto zoom lenses.
