Just returned from a weeks stay at the Marriott in Sand Key, we were a family of 2 adults and 2 children.

The location and setting of the hotel is beautiful, which most people have stated on here. The pool area is fantastic with staff at close hand to offer you drinks and meals, which are quite expensive. Watercolours is nice, however, once again can be expensive, particually for breakfast. We found a great alternative on the Boardwalk outside the hotel in 'Maggie Mays'. Go here if you want an excellent breakfast for a reasonable price.

The room was a big negative point for us though. They were extremely damp inside and this was noticeable as soon as you entered the room. Once opening the door you could smell the damp in the room. It was also noticeable in the carpet, which did feel a little 'wet' at times. I complained at reception who tried their hardest to find another room for me. They offered me two alternatives, both of which I inspected before agreeing to move. These two rooms were worse than the existing rooms we had so we agreed to stay in our existing room. The receptionist said that she was unaware of the problem which was a clear lie as it was obvious that the ceiling had been painted over in parts to hide the damp on the ceiling. Other people who we spoke to in the hotel had the same problem so it was not just us.

To summarise, the hotel has some lovely surroundings, however, the room will probably stop me going back there if I was to return to Clearwater.

I was in Tampa for a conference and decided to spend the weekend in Clearwater before heading home. We were downtown and the drive to Clearwater was very easy and only took 30 - 40 minutes to get there.

The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. We didn't ask for much but everywhere we went there was someone there to help. The rooms are large and the bathrooms small as mentioned in the other posts. It was nice to have a small refrigerator and microwave in the room. We had a nice view of the bay from our balcony and could watch the sunset from the other side of the hotel on the walkway.

The boardwalk has 3-4 restaurants and a small grocery store for any items you need. We ate at Baclkwaters both nights and enjoyed the food and service. Also, we had the breakfast buffet at the hotel on Sunday morning...a little pricey but very good.

The pool area is excellent and they have food and drinks in the pool area. The is a small hot tub and the pool has a basketball goal and volleyball net for a little fun.

The only drawback was the long walk to the beach. We didn't take the cart to the beach, but walked over for the sunset one night.

The drive to the airport is very easy and only takes around 30 minutes.

Overall a great hotel and we will probably return for a longer stay. There is a lot to do in the area that we didn't have time to take advantage of during our weekend.

We stayed four nights at the Marriott Clearwater Suites the first week of June and LOVED everything about this hotel. We have stayed at a lot of Marriotts, but I have to say this is by far the BEST STAFF and SERVICE we have ever received. I will agree with others that bathrooms are small, but do you really live in there? The pool area is nice appointed but a little crowded for the area, but this is normal with summer time vacations isn't it?
From the first time we pulled up we were greeted by a great bellhop, Darrin I believe who was very nice. Check in was easy and pleasing. Lisa the bird is the highlight of the Lobby, so cute!! We had asked for extra pillows and they were brought right up. Everything was great, view, people and the area is lots of fun. DO keep in mind if you want to do anything besides hanging out at the beach you DO NEED A CAR! We found lots to do it St Petersburg, Egmont Island and loved looking at all the beautiful homes.
We did a Pirate Cruise one night that was such a blast! This is where the biggest thank you of all goes to Casey from WI the valet on duty. We were going to take the free Trolley that stops by the hotel and goes down the boardwalk to the restaurant area. We had run late and missed it and didn't have enough time for a taxi so Casey told one of the other valets that he was going to run us down there and drop us off! Thanks to him we made the cruise in time and had a blast. Everyone at this hotel strives hard to make your time the area a great memorable one. This is the best place to stay!

My husband and I couldn't believe the excellent customer service we received at The Marriott. From the moment we drove up to the time we left we were treated like gold! What a nice change. This place is very relaxing, even though it was crowded over Memorial weekend. We walked to the Boardwalk next door and had wonderful gelato every afternoon. There is also a small grocery there that has everything you may have forgotton.
Lulu drove us over to the Sandkey beach across the street on a brightly decorated golf cart, she was very friendly. She gave us towels, water and offered lunch menus and showed us where the phone at the beach was to call her when we were ready to come back. We had dinner at Watercolours 1 night. Wonderful filet, grouper, and there was a piano player. We danced for a couple of songs after desert. We live in Orlando and I will definately drive the 2.5 hrs back there again soon for a quick weekend jaunt. I agree the bathrooms are small, but the suite was perfect for us! Nice to have a sink/wetbar/coffemaker/hairdryer/fridge and balcony overlooking the gulf. Ask for a gulf front room on a higher floor.

I stayed here when it was the Raddison, looking by the resent photos and reviews it hasn't changed much since I went last.

The best feature of the hotel has to be the pool area which has a brilliant pool and lounging area equiped for the whole family, a nice bar and some sports facilities. However the rooms are much smaller than would be expected. They shoved 6 of us (2 adults, 2 older teenagers, one younger teen, and a young child) into what they called a suit, but what it was was a double bed, a further tight twin and a sofa bed in the lounge. Given that the rooms were very tight it was not very pleasant. As was the small danky outdoor corridor very high up to the room. Although the view from the rooms balcony was spectacular out to sea.

The white sandy beach was beautiful but again was a long walk as te hotel is on the side of the island/penisular that has a board walk and you have to cross a buzy road to the beach. Although beautiful you have to be careful from not only sting rays (meaning you have to "shuffle your feet" on the ocean floor, which can be hard to explain to the young, and we often saw sharks (hammerhead) from our room, as well as some nice dolphins.

Clearwaters main beach however had many activities and was especially good for the teenagers in the evening with beach volleypool and many activities, and there was an array of shops and restaurants to please anyone.

Overall it was a nice place, especially the pool area and a good relaxing spot after a hectic 10 days at disney.
