Buttonwood is a small park, small in that nice way. It's neat and tidy. We stayed in the rear of the property and our rig faced a pond where people walked their dogs. Yep, it's pet friendly AND they're smart enough to have doggie bag stations placed around the property - so there is no excuse for leaving your pets droppings.

They've upgraded the place over the years, most of the spots are cement with a very nice brick patio area. Lots of trees and shrubs and grasses and flowers. It is lacking some shade now but once those trees grow up -- it's going to be a stunner of a place. They have a small area for dockage - stress on the word small. There's nothing wrong with small but don't expect to get a big 'ol honkin' fishing boat back there. That area of the property is, well, charming comes to mind.

You know how when you're someplace and some little thing just knocks your socks off because it was so unexpected? It happened. A newspaper. A newspaper showed up at our site every single day. What a nice touch. It made the morning coffee on the patio go from nice and relaxing to super nice and relaxing. Who would've guessed, a silly little newspaper tickled me.

They do have a swimming pool and I suppose it would be considered rather small, but one must bear in mind the location of the property. It's literally walking distance to the beach. You walk across a drawbridge and poof - there you are. There's something about walking a drawbridge - the cars humming across the metal grated roadway while Pelicans and Cormorants swoop and dive around you. Sailboats line up waiting for the bridge to open while jet skiers dance around them. If you're lucky, you'll see dolphins playing and leaping as well. Nice, nice way to spend a day. There is a small deli/market just east of the property - again, easy to walk to and if you cross the road and go just a tad further there is a lovely little restaurant.

Walkable - the place is situated such that you can walk to the beach, large Laundromat, restaurant, quirky store, deli/market, actually there are 3 or 4 restaurants you can walk to. Walk over to Cortez Village and you go boating, jet skiing, fishing, parasailing. Yep, walkable is probably the best word. It's nice to be someplace where you're not stuck out in the boonies and have to drive for 15 or 20 minutes to get some basic supplies.

Is this one of those Mega RV Parks? Nope, it's a small mom and pop. It's clean, it's convenient in a location that most Parks would envy, literally turn dark green with envy. The staff is friendly, the people are friendly.

We'll be back. Absolutely.

Thank you for such kind words. We love having the ability to serve our guests as a small RV park. You hit on so much of what makes Buttonwood great, like the upgrades, the waterfront and the closeness to amazing area attractions. Please come back and visit us anytime. Our guests truly make the park a unique and wonderful place to stay and we couldn't be more grateful.

We visited off-season. The bathrooms were pristine, as a result, and adequate for the number of guests there in September. In season, you would have to use your own facilities.

The RV park has beautiful landscaping with brick patios. Not much shade, so be sure if you visit in summer you have good AC. The park is a great spot to use as a base for beach walks and exploring Anna Maria Island tot he right or Longboat Key to the left.

The beach is nearby and quite wide and not busy. When you leave the park, turn right to cross the bridge. At the end of the bridge turn left and drive down until you find the public parking along the right side of the road. The first morning we didn't know where to park for beach access, but there's tons of parking if you keep going down the road. Coquina Beach Park is along the road, too, with parking, shaded picnic tables, and lovely beach.

Room Tip: A few sites near the road have shade, but I suspect are filled by relatively permanent RVs. Sites along the canal perpendicular to Cortez Road have shade by 4 p.m. in September.

We stayed with our travel trailer this past weekend and loved this park. It's quaint, very quiet and kids could ride bikes without cars. Location is so close to beautiful beaches. We will be back very soon! Would have come next weekend but they are booked! If you want to stay in a nice park, close to wonderful beaches, this is the place!

Management very unprofessional compared to other Rv locations in the area. Rates are high compared to other RV resorts in the area. Other than the new camping sites, everything else is sub-par. Small pool, boat dockage very poor, restrooms and other facilities are very small not consumer friendly. Great location is the best part of this camping resort other than that, a whole bunch of nothing!!!

Room Tip: >New camping sites good >Front camping sites poor >Management very unprofessional > Rates very high compared to other RV resorts in the area

The unprofessional staff here says it all. Forget the convenient location, forget the boat launch, forget the reasonably cared for RV park. The bathroom cleaning lady and camp host are not customer friendly or polite. We experienced issues ranging from multiple cars parked, temp parking due to heavy rains flooding site, the use of the bathrooms/showers that are suppose to be avail. even though you are a self contained RV(according to the resort being a Good Sam member), and finally indirectly asked to leave on 1 weeks notice. There are many other RV parks to choose from with better quality/customer service! Don't say I didn't warn you!
