BED BUGS!!!!
Long post, but worth the read
To start off, disgusting PERIOD. The hotel and the staff.
On our third night at 10:30 PM, as we were getting into bed we see a bug on the sheets, once we took a closer look, it looked like a bed bug. As I go to kill it, it was filled with blood. We proceeded to search the bed and we found shedded skin and another live one. As soon as we got to the hotel the first day we checked to make sure they had protective covers over the mattress as we do at all hotels we stay at, they did which made us feel good. When we found the bugs we started to think where they might have come from, we then noticed that the bed skirt was cloth with no protection and also the carts that you transfer your luggage on, the bottom was a layer of cloth.
We went down to the front desk and the lady said that she could move us to a new room but there was no one we could talk to that night and to come back down in the morning and the manager would be there. We went down to the front desk the next morning and the two workers said that the manager wouldn’t be in until the next morning, but the manager told her employees previously to let us know that we would be refunded for that one night for the inconvenience, but I think we deserved more of a refund rather than just one out of the three nights we stayed there since we stayed in that room two nights prior to finding them, which was two extra days that the bugs could get on our clothes and luggage. Which means we had to take a lot of precautions once we got home and hope that we did not transfer them into our home. We did not feel comfortable staying in the hotel so we had to end our trip early and we drove home the morning after we found the bugs.
Since the manager was not in for us to talk to her face to face I decided to reach out to her via email on our drive home and she responded later that night. I responded back the next day hoping to hear back from her. Four days go by and still no response so I decided to call her. Long story short on the phone the manager said that we would not be receiving more of a refund because their inspection crew did not find anything so they had no proof, well below are pictures of my proof, which I showed to the employee the night we found them along with a died one that we squished on a piece of paper. Do with this information as you please, just know if you decide to stay at The Inn on Destin Harbor and happen to run into any problems, you will not get the accommodation you deserve.
