“A fine find on busy 17th Street Causeway”
Reviewed 24 March 2012

Gilbert's is really quite good. It is located in the Harbor Shops on 17th Street Causeway, a primary artery going to the beach. The shopping center is a magnet for cruise-ship bound tourists who are spending the night nearby prior to their vacations. Gilberts has a "walk up and order" setup; the food is brought to you. The burgers were absolutely top-notch, as well as the ahi tuna entree I had. This is a locally-owned restaurant with hands-on owners, and it shows. It's somewhat reminiscent of the new wave of burger places like CG Burgers and Five Guys, but puts both of them to shame. I really liked Gilberts on my two visits there.

“Great Experience”
Reviewed 24 March 2012

Great find in a shopping center behind a number of hotels. What sold me on this place was the friendly and small mom and pop atmosphere. When I was there I met the entire family and heard their story about their move from New York. Very casual but this does not limit the quality and variety of food. Even if the food was horrible, which it is not, I would go back just to support this great family.

Delicious burgers, fries (go with the homemade regular fries), and key lime pie.

“The best of the best”
Reviewed 24 March 2012

We were immediately greeted by smiling faces upon stepping in the door. As the evening progressed, from mouthwatering burgers to newspaper decor, we got to know the owner of the restaurant and his story. In the end we ended up being treated to a slice of home made key lime pie, in exchange for this review. Truly a wonderful restaurant.

“A great enjoyable place to have a wonderful meal”
Reviewed 23 March 2012

Went to the grill in the evening with a small group including a wheel chair person and was greeted at the door by a family member, shown to a table put together for the 7 of us and then explained how the system works. Looked over the selection (which was great) then placed our order. The mushroom soup was ample and delicious. Had the steak sandwich, others had the salad (big and fresh), the salmon, the flank steak. All were tasty and ample. Top it off with the best key lime pie topped with whipped cream in the area. Great family place. Quick friendly service. Will go back.

“Great service and food.”
Reviewed 22 March 2012

I saw this review on tripadvisor and since we were meeting friends for lunch as they had just returned from a cruise, decided to go to Gilbert's. The location was perfect for them as they were traveling home to Ohio in their small camper and visited Publix, in the same plaza, prior to lunch to stock up on some food. Food was good and price (although we were treated) was good.
