This is a rare oasis in a city filled with high-rises along the coast. I have been in and out of this great place over more than 10 year and have probably stayed more than 20 times. Location is great just a short walk from the northern end stop of the water taxi at Shooters. Michael and his charming elderly mother are the kindest of hosts and really care for their guests. I even stayed in Green Island when the storm "Wilma" passed over Florida in 2005. We were without power and the outside was chaos, but we were safe inside the solid concrete structure.

I can recommend Green Island to anyone who appreciates traditional charms and are not dependent on full service and large lounges. This is a great second home.

Room Tip: Check that the local air conditioning units are up to speed. They are changes out, but old ones can...

the green island is my second home! I've known it for many years..michael and his mother are really kind person, they always try to help you make feel at home...they always smile and want to laugh with you! the location is in key west style I think...many colors inside each room, palm trees, a nice pool..the room is cleaned everyday and, they change all the towels..incredible! there's a car park just outside..the beach crossing the street..in an exclusive place with villas...you can even walk or run late in the evening and you feel safe! you have a church just behind and supermarket near...a bus stop just crossing the street...well, This is the right place to stay in ft lauderdale!

Michael and his mother were the most welcoming hosts I've ever had. I checked in hours early and five hours late. He gave us an extra room for my toddler for free just because it wasn't being used. This place is do beautiful and relaxing. Beach is across the street and the pool area is beautiful. Every room has everything you need and a kitchen area. It is so inexpensive and we will never stay anywhere else!! Thanks again for everything, couldn't be happier!

I satayed in this place for two months(January to Febrary) and there i could meet good persons that welcomed me very weel. I could learn good things with them. The place is different, there are a lot of trees, the garden is wonderful, the pool is clean and we could make a lot of barbecues with new friends that i did there.

I immediately fell in love with the people and location that make this a paradise. Michael and his family welcomed me to their charming, well-maintained inn overlooking a beautiful garden of lush, tropical plants on one side and the pool area on the other. Only 2 blocks from the beach, it is the ideal location for anyone wanting to escape and rest along the Atlantic side of Florida. I'm already making plans to return!
