We stayed here while waiting for a flight to a vacation in the Abacos. Off season rates were ridiculously low. Old Florida/Key West style. Clean and cute decor. We even had our own patio. 2 blocks to a convenient store. 1 block from the beach. Safe neighborhood. Nice pool and patio area. Beautiful foliage. Kitchenette, wifi and flat screen TV. Tub/shower is old but clean. We arrived late and they left our room open for us so we never met the owners. I'd stay here again.

The apartment was very nice, everything you need, clean, pool right outside the room, very friendly and welcoming people who come back every year. Mike, the host was the best. We will definetely come back when we're in the area again next year.

This is a rare oasis in a city filled with high-rises along the coast. I have been in and out of this great place over more than 10 year and have probably stayed more than 20 times. Location is great just a short walk from the northern end stop of the water taxi at Shooters. Michael and his charming elderly mother are the kindest of hosts and really care for their guests. I even stayed in Green Island when the storm "Wilma" passed over Florida in 2005. We were without power and the outside was chaos, but we were safe inside the solid concrete structure.

I can recommend Green Island to anyone who appreciates traditional charms and are not dependent on full service and large lounges. This is a great second home.

Room Tip: Check that the local air conditioning units are up to speed. They are changes out, but old ones can be noisy.

the green island is my second home! I've known it for many years..michael and his mother are really kind person, they always try to help you make feel at home...they always smile and want to laugh with you! the location is in key west style I think...many colors inside each room, palm trees, a nice pool..the room is cleaned everyday and, they change all the towels..incredible! there's a car park just outside..the beach crossing the street..in an exclusive place with villas...you can even walk or run late in the evening and you feel safe! you have a church just behind and supermarket near...a bus stop just crossing the street...well, This is the right place to stay in ft lauderdale!

Michael and his mother were the most welcoming hosts I've ever had. I checked in hours early and five hours late. He gave us an extra room for my toddler for free just because it wasn't being used. This place is do beautiful and relaxing. Beach is across the street and the pool area is beautiful. Every room has everything you need and a kitchen area. It is so inexpensive and we will never stay anywhere else!! Thanks again for everything, couldn't be happier!
