Celebrated our wedding anniversary with a gastronomic Chef's dinner at Monkitail. Carlos offered excellent service starting with his recommendations of the 10 plates we had for dinner, his attentive service throughout, and ending with a celebratory dessert of coconut panna. Kobe beef, warm hamachi in delicate ginger soy, seared scallop, tempura shrimp tacos, rainbow roll were some of the memorable dishes, paired its Neyers Carneros chardonnay. We had a fantastic evening.

Monkitail is new at the Diplomat. We tried the Chef's tasting menu since this was our first visit. The tasting menu lets you choose 10 items from each of the menu sections, so between the two of us we had 20 items. It gave us a nice overview of the restaurant's offerings. It was literally too much food! Service was great, Serena taking good care of us. Love that they validate parking. Definitely will be back.

We meet friends and had reserved a table for 6. 3 adults and 3 teens. Was seated on the side of the restaurant, got nice ice water and the meny. So far so good. But then we felt like we became invisible! Had to ask twice to place our order, waitet over 30 minutes to get the wine we ordered and almost 50 minutes for the food.

We had a huge selection of nigiri and maki. The maki was soggy, tasteless and boring. All tasted the same. 2 had chicken and they had to ask for salt & extra seasoning.

We gave up having dessert, since our waiter disappeard again. Had to ask 3 different waiters to pay our bill.....

It all started with professional treatment at the front door. The atmosphere inside the dining room was lovely, romantic, perfection at its best. The server (Carlos) might as well had been the owner with as much knowledge that he supplied us on the selections available. All the food was unique and not your run of the mull standard options. Do not pass up the opportunity to enjoy a marvelous evening...

Walking into the main dining room you are amazed by the tall ceilings, cool lighting and welcoming chefs. Our first time at monkitail and will def be back, we stayed at the diplomat for a weekend and monkitail was the highlight of the trip. Our server Colin was friendly and made the best suggestions. We started with the tuna tar tar/ duck buns/and the kobe beef skewers that we ended up ordering again! My wifes favorite was the Chilean Sea Bass entree it was perfectly cooked fell right apart! You cant miss dessert get the coconut panna cotta and mini ice creams!!
