We had the most relaxing, laid back time at this condo. Small, and very quaint. Really nice outdoor seating areas, fire pit for evening cocktails. Short walk to the beach! Large, white sandy beach. The rooms have great little kitchens for preparing meals. We walked to some really fun eating places. The bedroom linens were super comfy and fluffy nice; and the bathrooms were very clean and fresh. We are going back again for Memorial Day weekend! Such a great location right on the beach and not a crowded area.
My significant other and I stayed in this unit for 5 days, and in unit 9 for 2 days. What we loved about unit 5:
- excellent view of the ocean
- patio facing ocean with stairs directly down to the beach
- able to watch the sunset every night from our own patio, or living room for that matter
- enough basic kitchen cooking essentials to get by comfortably
- has regular coffee maker, but bring filters!
- they even have a blender:)
- very clean and well decorated making it very comfortable
- set away from road, no sound of traffic
- great beach set up with chairs and trunks loaded with cushions and pillows
- ice maker
- kayaks and 2 bikes available at no cost
- laundry room which is FREE for guests to use, not coin up
- great location, many shops, restaraunts, pubs close by
- close to Clearwater, Large and St. Pete
- not industrialized/touristy like many other parts of Florida, great walking and bike paths along the road
Things to be aware of:
- small, only 2 of us so we were good, but 3 or 4 would be very cramped
- fridge was small, it wasn't a dorm fridge, but about half the size of a full fridge, so be aware of this when you buy cold items
- beach towels are not provided
I would definately recommend Bungalow Beach Place Unit 5!
Bungalow Beach Place is perfect in every way. Beautiful decor, spotless, and an ocean front view that is magazine worthy. If my dream comes true, I'll visit once a month.
When I pick a vacation property it has to meet a few things and from reading previous reviews nothing really jumped out to me. The criteria I look for are location and comfortability.
First off the location is fabulous. Hands down no other way to say it. If you stay here, the view is fabulous.
The negative for this property are the following are quite important.
Upon checking in, the unit was 85 degrees inside the condo and the AC unit was turned off. The unit AC should've been on seeing how we were arriving July 1st and it was really hot outside. Another problem was the refrigerator was also off and didn't cool enough to keep milk from souring. The freezer worked fine but we bought groceries prior to check in and they needed to be refrigerated. I think the most disappointing of all is that when I had read previous reviews, there was one for Unit 5 and in May that customer encountered the refrigerator was not working at that time either and the owners moved them to a different unit. So two months later it's still not working.
The bed was way too soft and lumpy and was so bad I ended up sleeping on the pull out sofa, which seemed somewhat more comfortable than the bed.
There's a reasonable expectation that the sleeping accommodations will be top notch, not bargain mattresses. That's one area you can't go cheap. You expect that when you pay good money, bad sleep shouldn't be an issue.
The other thing that needs to be added to the unit are ceiling fans in the living room and bedroom. The AC runs extremely hard and at least with ceiling fans that would help circulate the air better and keep the unit somewhat cooler. The rules of the condo stated to keep the thermostat at 75 degrees. Now my family has HVAC background and I was informed that the kinks of the new system hadn't been worked out. Well AC units are designed to cool from the start, so the only reason I can think you want to limit the temperature would be for cost, but that shouldn't mean the consumer should have to worry about not having a nice cool unit while on vacation.
The only way I would stay at this unit again, is if they owners make the changes needed the accommodations. This place has a really nice upside, but Unit 5 needs some changes. The property needs to be pre-cooled upon arrival and check in and the refrigerator should never be turned off. The instruction manual said that if one room was hotter than another to start closing vents to get more air in other rooms. That shouldn't be an issue either.

We were initially booked into apartment 5 and had some issues, which were very quickly resolved by the owners, who moved us into apartment 9 which was stunning. It is not on the beach front but is extremely welcoming and relaxing, and to be honest, faultless, very different from the 8 beach front apartments. Go for 9! I would personally like to thank the owners agai for helping us out! My personal opinion is that I would only recommend apartment 9.
