Stayed for one night. Overall it was ok but could have been better. First off, i get there at a little after 4pm and the room was not ready? really? ok, so i walked around and ultimately the room was ready. i was given a "key west" view so didnt expect much. glad i didnt...basically the balcony faces a suspect neighborhood...and its also quite a distance away from lobby..luck for me i was not spending much time in the balcony..so beware of rooms with "key west" view...the room was normal and nothing specail...the bathroom way too small. you cant sit on the toilet and have the door open...your knees will hit the door...so you have to close door...i guess thats fine..but quite the dance to sit and close door...oh and them roosters...up and early at 530 or so...pretty annoying...another perk for having the "key west" view..not much you can do about it since the roosters have some kind of a protective status....dont plan on sleeping much when he/she starts their thing....

for some positives...the best "beach" area i have seen in Key West. obviously man made but it works..the pier looks nice and cool to go on but it was closed..still damaged from the hurricane i imagine...water was nice but a bit chilly for March for me...but should be real nice in the summer...

the free drink you get for the resort fee is a bust...but hey the bartender was affable and working hard...oh yea the resort fee...they actually tax the resort fee with a resort fee tax....then they tax the parking fee and they tax the room rate, and tax pretty much everything else...its ridiculous...and the rooms are over 400....drink tab can get pricey too...happy hour is more like cash hour...but i guess you are in a nice place and area....

back to positives....the Tippsy Rooster is a cool dive bar across the street...and you are about 1 mile away from main street Duval...all walkable distances and not bad after dinner to walk things off...

overall a nice place with some few negatives in my eyes but i would stay there again and try to be more strategic with the room situation and bring lots of cash....

Room Tip: stay away from "key west" view

Dear CUatthebeach305,

We appreciate the thorough review. It’s wonderful to hear that you were able to find time to enjoy our lovely beach and some local gems in the surrounding area. We are disappointed to learn about the less-than-impressive aspects of your stay and will take these comments as an opportunity to improve. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

We stayed for two days on spring break 2018. Having visited Key West with two kids before, we had some perspective on what might make for a good or great experience. First and foremost, the pool beach set up is the best we have found in key West. The pool is literally the biggest although I haven’t seen the southernmost resort layout. The beach is clean and decently sized. Our view from 325 was lovely, even though it’s an ocean view and not ocean front. The negatives however are hard to ignore. The rooms while well kept are dated. The pullout couch was a disaster for sleeping. The bathroom was missing light covers and just didn’t feel 5star. It’s all functional and nice enough, but nothing on par with the Waldorf in Orlando. The staff on site were constantly working and friendly, and we had a magical ocean front dinner on arrival. I hate giving negative reviews-in many ways, this place stands out for a family wanting to spend time by the ocean. And, walk about locally without the grit of duval st. However, between the pull out and a noisy ac, no one slept much.

This was our fourth time at The Reach. We had a great time and plan on coming back next year. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed going to the bar for a cocktail. The venue is beautiful.

So I rarely write reviews on hotels, but my recent stay at The Reaxhgcertainly deserved at least a bit of a warning to prospective guests. For anyone looking to stay in Key West, I’d recommend going elsewhere. Nothing about the hotel seemed first class, except the PRICE that is. The quality of the room and amenities are similar to an average Holiday Inn or Best Western. The only problem is that a stay at The Reach costs 4 times an average hotel. Everything disappointed. A couple of examples: 1. The beach (sand and water) was full of small styrofoam pieces that apparently came off of something used on the construction on the pier (which was of course closed). 2. Two average sized alcoholic beverages and one non-alcoholic beverage from the outside bar cost $34! 3. The elevator to get to our room was “out of service” for the entirety of our stay and no one appeared to be working on it. So every time we arrived back at the hotel, we had to walk like an extra mile just to get to our room. 4. The room itself seemed to be in pretty crappy condition. There was really no decor other than one small picture hanging. Huge cracks in the shower flooring, luke warm water from faucets (never hot), cracks on the sink counter tops, poor lighting, and even painters tape left in parts of the bathroom (despite the fact that it doesn’t appear to be newly painted?). Oh, and even the television takes about 5 seconds to respond to the remote (so just going thru all the channels takes about 10 minutes lol). 5. The “ocean view room” that we paid a premium for was so disappointing. The “view” didn’t even allow us to “view the beach” since it was so off to the side. In addition, the ocean waves are barely audible due to the loud air conditioning units (I assume) on the roof. 6. No shuttle service despite supposedly being a “resort.”
All in all, The Reach is a luxury hotel in name-only and not at all worth the extra cost of being on the beach. The amenities, or lack there of, along with poor quality room really are pretty shocking for a Waldorf Astoria property. Overall, very disappointing stay.
