“A Charming B&B”

The inn is located at a walking distance from the happening Duval street and Malory Square. Its cozy and very clean. Although the breakfast wasn't a fancy fare, the stay was worth the cost. I would definitely choose this again!

Great choice, that's what I thought after the check out.
In fact the Authors is a guesthouse located in the Old part of Key West, a nice 15 minutes walk (try to walk and forget about the parkings) from Duval Street.
Key West in late december was crowded and lovely, in any aspect of the typical local short stay: beach, shopping, sunset, dining out, everything is a must see and the Authors owner (or owners?) gave us the right tip about everything.
A must see, as I wrote, is the sunset, which occurs at 5.30 pm in the period we stayed.
About the hotel, in summary:
1 - we had the Library, which is on the main road and was not noisy at all. If you need a big kitchen because you want to stay for long, or because of whatsoever try another room, otherwise this one was just perfect, nicely decorated and quiet
2 - There is a jacuzzi, enjoy it: the towels for you are next to it, and it's actually relaxing as it's supposed to be.
3 - If you drove here, leave the car in the alley, that is what suggested to the guests: free, safe parking, I loved it.
4 - Don't be afraid to ask, the ladies running Authors are not afraid to give the right tips.
5 - Try the breakfast, which should be included anyway: it's a funky, retrò experience in the rear garden.
Hope the hints can help, I would be back here for sure.

I loved this place. The rooms were very clean and nicely decorated to make you feel at home. The staff were friendly, the jacuzzi was a plus after a day of heavy exercise, window shopping and crowds. Location is great, within walking distance to main attractions. Perfect for couples and families.

The inn is located not far from the happening and bustling Duval street and that definitely is a big plus. The rooms we stayed were very neat and amenities provided clean.

The only minor area that could use some improvement is the break fast which we found lacked variety (boy! that toaster is sloooooow).

Overall, I am very happy with the stay.

We planned our trip to Key West with the idea of keeping the costs down. We're fortunate we found Authors Guesthouse. There are hundreds of Inns in Key West, and I could not check all of them, but we were very happy with Authors. It is within walking distance (if you like to walk and are able to do so) of everything we wanted to see: the harbor, Duval, and a wealth of wonderful restaurants--some of the best are hidden away on side streets, so you walk past them on your way to the tourist areas. We parked our car and didn't move it once while we were there. White Street was usually very quiet, which a place near Duval could not possibly be. The hostess was pleasant and helpful. The Guesthouse itself is a bit worn; the appliances in our room were obviously picked up at a Goodwill (how could there be rust spots on a textured refrigerator?) and the garbage disposal didn't work. There were some cooking pots, but we could have used more. But the room was very large and did have a full kitchen, so we bought fresh seafood and cooked our own dinners most f the time. We cooked our own breakfasts also . . . the breakfast at Authors is a bit inadequate. Sometimes we stay in elegant resorts, which Authors is not, but it certainly has the flavor and character of Key West. We'd stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for the Poets room. It is in the back, near your car, large and has a full kitchen.
