My husband and I spent three nights at Ocean House. First impressions leave a lasting memory. Ed, Mike and the staff were welcoming from the minute we stepped onto the premises to the last good bye. Lasting enough that I would highly, highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to enjoy the experience of quiet, restful R&R in what one imagines the Florida Keys to be. In fact, how they service their guests is similar to how one would be welcomed at Sunset Key Cottages in Key West with out the price tag that goes with it.

We've travelled afar, from places in Europe, Asia, Oceania, North and South America. And I have to say I personally loved the well maintained grounds - especially the man made pond. The best pond design I have seen so far. A zen like feel from every unit looking at it and across it onto the beach and ocean. You can't help but feel relaxed from the minute you wake up. Continental breakfast served in your room, on your deck or at the pool.

Even the cabanas are absolutely beautiful. Staying at the W in South Beach, Miami, you would pay at least $500 to rent a cabana and it wouldn't be as quiet and as beautiful as being in one of these cabanas...without any fee to use it!

Simple living - pick up your bottle of wine, cheese and crackers from the local market and enjoy the sunset from the cabana.

Life can't get much better and we'll definitely be returning again!

Brain & Clara, Thank you for the great review! We are blessed with a staff that truly love interacting with our guests and giving clearly outrageous service. I'm glad that you liked our grotto. It is a good spot for mediation. Guests have free use of bicycles, WiFi, kayak/paddle boards, snorkel equipment and, of course, the popular cabanas. We have no added fees or resort fees. We look forward to your return!

I just wanted to say what a pleasure it was to stay at the Ocean House in Islamorada. My wife and I were blown away by this resort. This was the first vacation we have had without our kids in 3 years and it was well worth the wait to spend it at the Ocean House. Let me start by saying that the rooms are perfect with a little kitchen and full size refrigerator. i have seen some reviews about the beds, but we thought they were comfortable. All the rooms have a porch with lounge chairs which we used for breakfast each morning. The grounds on the property are truly amazing and beautiful. About 30 steps from our room was a nice pool area with a couple of cabana's and a large thatched roof sitting area, there is also a nice hot tub by the pool. They also have bikes and couple of versa boards which can be used standing or sitting like a kayak. The beach area is perfect, we spent every evening enjoying the view. I would highly recommend this place because of everything mentioned above as well as a perfect staff that was there for anything you needed. We cannot wait to come back to this perfect little piece of paradise.

Thank you for your comments. While we value families, we remain an exclusive adult resort to give you the opportunity to have a quit and intimate getaway. You can relax at the pool or beach with little or no distraction. We have received both good and bad comments about the beds and we listened. All new latex hypoallergenic mattresses have been ordered and will be in place soon as well as all new pillows. Each guest will have both a hypoallergenic latex pillow as well as a new down filled pillow. Three of the rooms will also be upgraded from the current queen beds to kings giving us five king rooms. We're excited as we approach 2013 and look forward to seeing returning guests as well as meeting new ones.
Thanks again and hope to see you on a return trip.

This is going to be the most pampering, luxurious experience you can have in the Keys, in my opinion. We stayed in several bed and breakfasts/hotels in the keys and nothing compares to this. Ana and the staff anticipate every need and they thought of every detail down to the complimentary bath/shower items that are amazing! The grounds are beautiful and unlike other places on the island, its really the only property that is "typical" of island paradise living. Beds are comfortable, great food nearby, plenty of activities. There is no way you cannot relax!

Thank you for your comments. You mentioned our bath/shower amenities - they're by Malin + Goetz from New York who pride themselves for producing products using natural ingredients. They're also available online if you want to use them at home! I'm glad that you were able to wrap up your Keys trip by relaxing at Ocean House. We hope to see you return.
Happy Holidays.

We normally travel two or three times a year to small, out-of-the way boutique hotels in the Carribbean and Mexico. So this was the first time in 10 years we've gone anywhere that didn't require a passport and/or a ride in a small plane or boat. And yes, we were a little nervous about what we'd find in Islamorada and Ocean House.
The title of this review "Fabulous Little Place" pretty much says it all. It is, at the same time, both elegant and down to earth. From Ed, to Anna, to Rod...the service was both personal and gracious. They're genuinely nice people doing what genuinely nice people do, which is take good care of their guests. We left feeling that we'd met people we'd love to see again...more because of who they were than their service while we were there.
The rooms are uniformly very nice but it is the LANDSCAPING that is nothing short of exceptional. You know immediately that a lot of money has been spent in those gardens and it's just as obvious that they are beautifully maintained. If you visit Ocean House, there's a "story" about them and it's worth hearing.
Bottom line...Ocean House has now made our top-three destinations list. We will most definitely be back at least once a year. But we will fly into Ft. Lauderdale next time instead of Miami. Trust me, the 20 extra minutes of drive time is worth it to avoid Miami International and the surrounding traffic.

Room Tip: Two corner top rooms are the best...but all are very nice.
