I have been a HH Silver/Gold member for over 20 years. I attempted to book a reward reservation for a surprise weekend for my husband, but an hour later, my health issues flared-up and I realized I would not be able to travel. I was able to cancel ALL of the other travel reservations (air / car / hotels) for this surprise weekend, except for HI Marathon. I didn't realize I when I booked it, I was already in a non-cancellation window. Webpage suggests calling. That was futile. I then attempted to resolve with Hilton Honors customer service. They said it was at the discretion of the local hotel. Called again, and was refused again. As a final option, I called and requested changing my reservation to a new date a few months from now (hoping I will feel better) again with no luck. My valuable points are lost.
In my 20+ years of staying at Hiltons, I have had other similar events, requiring a change of plans, and always had HH cooperation of redepositing my points or rescheduling.
I am very disappointed that HI Marathon is unbending with their cancellation policy.
