This is a beautiful resort, with the usual unique central atrium, depicting various Florida regions. Great rooms and service, but very pricey. Their self parking is far away and a bit of a pain. Overall, you won’t be disappointed.

Perfect place for a conference however, you will not escape their need to make money. $22 for parking even for exhibitors!

We came to the Gaylord Palms from a week stay at the Caribe Royale just down the road, so our impressions were heavily weighted by a fresh experience at the previous hotel.
When we arrived at the portcochere we were in a word- overwhelmed! A mass of people were milling about and there were no less than twenty cars in three or four lines. We received no direction as to where to park so we simply stopped. As the passenger I got out to register inside while my husband as the driver tried to find a valet. There were maybe two or three valets working that evening (Wednesday night at about 5:00), but none in the portcochere when we arrived. Seeing no one official I proceeded inside.
This place is massive and impressive. Beautiful and lush. But it’s size makes your entry into the hotel impersonal. I felt lost in a crowd without staff for direction. Like a large shopping mall, less like our home for three days. This could be improved upon to make guests feel more welcome and invited.
Check in was fairly seamless except the reservations were under my husbands name and he was outside trying to find someone to park the car. So I had to wait.
Once Vic arrived at the desk- about a fifteen minute wait to have our car serviced- we received keys, a map, and instructions to find our room.
The room was sufficient. Not stuffy. Air was on when we entered. There is a ceiling fan- nice and welcome accessory. There is free bottled water and a small fridge. The keyless system was working well. We had asked for a ling, was given a double and when we called down to ensure about a king room we were told that one was available for a $60 per night upgrade. I hate these types of switch and bait experiences. They cover themselves when you book by saying you’ll be placed in the room of your choice based on availability. Except the availability obviously comes with an additional price. Also the view from our room was uninspiring. We overlooked a parking lot and the Florida woods.

The hotel room is very very noisy. The doors are so thin you can here every footstep and noise in the hall. The hallways are also so very log the noise echos from one end to the other. The room also is not very dark. The curtains do not sufficiently block our morning light. If your looking for a good nights sleep into the morning you won’t find it here. One evening there was a gang of teenagers in the hallway shouting and laughing until well past midnight.

The atrium is so beautiful and we walked it frequently. But the hotel felt so empty despite two or three conferences going on. I think the size makes it feel alien and unattended.

The pool area looked amazing. It as chilly so no one was outside but it looks like a lot of fun for people of all ahead.

The staff were friendly - very interested in interacting and having nice chats.

We did not eat at the restaurants. We did think about it but no one was in them dining so we went elsewhere.

Room service was overly expensive. But I imagine with thousands of rooms it is necessary.

Overall we would come again if we brought a family or were intending to just stay for the pool fun.
