The Marco Island Marriott is a very nice hotel in a great location. The white sandy beach is so beautiful and it was fun looking for shells on our walks. We were on the 7th floor and had a side view of the gulf. I think that all rooms above the 2nd or 3rd floor will have a side view of the gulf (unless it is a gulf facing room). The lower rooms will not be able to see above the trees. The room was spacious enough for our family and we really enjoyed our stay. There are two towers and we were in the North tower, which is farther away from everything. South tower would be better. The pools are beautiful and there were a lot of fun things going on. It was a VERY crowded spring break week.
The hotel provided a lot of activities for families. We watched a movie by the pool one night and the kids enjoyed the ping pong tables too. They have about 4 hammocks along the beach which we enjoyed. We did not eat at the hotel at all.
We are Marriott gold members and made our reservation 11 months in advance but were not given any upgrades and our room was as far back from the gulf as it could be.
Since it was the week before Easter it was extremely crowded and this is a very large hotel. They did not enforce their rules for saving chairs and we never got a chair at the pool, which was okay because the beach was nice. They take lounge chairs to the beach for no charge, but do charge $18 a day for an umbrella. The pools were beautiful but they allowed rafts and very large floaties in the pool, and there were a lot of people throwing balls back and forth, so it was difficult to find a spot to even stand in the pool out of the way. They have you wear a wristband to identify you as a hotel guest, and had people at the pool to check, but it didn't work well. Every day there were groups of local kids, wearing wristbands, that had snuck into the hotel and were on the lounge chairs, making it even more crowded.
A few negatives - 1. On our second day we asked for 2 extra pillows and were told that it would be an hour and a half before they would be brought up and they never came. 2. There is a door for adjoining rooms and you can hear every word that is being said on the other side of that door! Our next door neighbors came in at 1:30 am and we could hear every word. 3. Concierge was not helpful when I told him about a specific restaurant that I wanted to go to and asked him for help with their hours and directions. Instead, he told me about other restaurants that he wanted to steer me to. So, I had to find the information on my own. 4. The WiFi was painfully slow! 5. Parking costs $12.72/day.
We all had a fun time and really liked the location. We would definitely go back, but not on a spring break week. It was too crowded!

Room Tip: South building, higher than 3rd floor.

We stayed at the Marriot hotel which is located right by the beach, what an amazing view we had. Staff was very friendly, especially Mary who would give us best suggestions for marco Island atractions.

Went the week before spring break. Great hotel, pools and beach. Plenty of activities at beach and ocean. Nice hotel restaurants, but also really good ones in walking distance Ristorante DaVinci, Captain Brien's seafood and comedy club were both excellant. Our wives walked to shopping.

Room Tip: OPcean view is worth it.

Experience was good all around. Hotel is a bit dated. Here are some tips.

1. If you are staying during a busy time, you will need to rent the huts on the beach in advance of your trip. We stayed for the first time during the week before Easter and when I inquired about renting the huts, they were already all rented for the entire week that we were there. Same goes for the cabanas by the pool – we arrived on 4/1 and they were rented in advance through 4/12. There’s no way a first time visitor to this property would have known to do this in advance. You can, however, rent beach umbrellas for $18 and the chairs are free. There are no advanced reservations for this. During busy season, you’d need to get down to the beach early getting a spot close to the water.

2. If you are staying during a busy time, it can be difficult to get a chair at the pool and you need to arrive very early to reserve your chairs. The pool opened at 8 am and the line started to form at 730 am. They contend that they come around to check and if no one‘s in the chairs for an hour, they remove your things so that another guest can have them, but I didn’t see this happening at all.

3. Some of the tours and activities offered by the hotel were already booked up (dolphin/shelling tour) but you can arrange one on your own. We did one through a company called Off the Hook, which was great and I’d recommend it.

4. Really important tip – when I booked a room with a king sized bed and pull out couch for me, my husband and our 6 and 9 year olds, no one mentioned that the pull out was a twin size. We ended up having to use the pull out and a twin size roll away (which I think is not technically permitted) which made the room (which is a decent size, but not huge), a bit cramped. I’d go with two doubles instead (although the doubles are really like full size).

We were a family of 10 visiting for a long weekend. The resort was extremely crowded. The pool area was ridiculous, people were waiting in line at 6:00 a.m. to reserve chairs for the pool that didn't open until 8:00 a.m., by 8:10 - no chairs left. Beach was no problem - lots of chairs and umbrella's. We found that the drinks and food at Quinns were more expensive than other resorts, the other huge expense was breakfast. There were not a lot of options - breakfast buffet or a coffee shop that had over 1/2 hour line to wait in. We learned at the end of the vacation to go off the property and buy your coffee and breakfast. The other thing that bothered all of us was that the hallways in the hotel were always dirty with sand, I don't think they vacuumed them the whole time we were there. Plus side, since it is a family resort, very quiet at night, no problem sleeping, would go back but maybe when it wasn't so busy.

Room Tip: Book South SIde Tower - better view
