Located in Melbourne's historic district, very slightly off the main drag, this all-day breakfast/lunch place offers you the opportunity to make your own pancakes right at your table. We didn't to that although others eating there did. As the name might suggest, this is not fine dining. Nevertheless, the dishes we had (a citrus waffle and a fried green tomato caprese sandwich) were plated appealing and tasted wonderful (although the citrus waffle could do without the powered sugar). The wait staff is courteous and prompt, the restrooms were clean, and the prices acceptable. The place claims to support local farmers and maybe it does. Don't know. One downside, at least for me, was the noticeably audible down-home country music playing throughout the restaurant. Would not hesitate to eat here again.

Headed down to the Keys on I-95 and needed breakfast. A google search suggested this cute place - several miles off of 95 but totally worth it. Located in the Old Town section of Melbourne, Backwaters has a funky atmosphere that makes you smile as soon as you walk in - lots of cool stuff to look at and attention to detail. The staff is crazy friendly - with lots of suggestions on what to eat. The food is fresh and served quick! They even have tables with griddles where you can make your own pancakes. Had the Pulled Pork Egg Benedict and the Okeechobee Ice Cream (which is a fun name for sausage gravy biscuit and egg - served in a big bowl). Even the coffee was good. Jordan and Jennalyn (sp?) took great care of us and gave us suggestions of places to go on a later portion of our vacation. All in all a great experience!

Great fun for the family...making our own pancakes in assorted shapes right at our table. Bacon was EXCELLENT! But don't get distracted by the hot plate in front of you and only get pancakes, the rest of the menu is just as innovative and enticing. A little more costly than your standard breakfast joint, but a significantly different experience makes it worth it. Great staff!

The option to cook your own pancakes is always nice, but the pancakes prepared by the staff is out of this world. They had pumpkin pancakes around Halloween that literally took my wife's breath away. This is a must go breakfast/brunch destination when you are in town.
