This review is being written as we are still in the holiday accommodation. The unit we are in is Whitedown, We have been here for 5 days - 2 to go. The most serious issue is that there is an adjoining door to the next apartment Pleasure Row which is not insulated. We can hear everything the neighbours are saying and doing. Furthermore, the water boiler and fan which is joint for the two flats makes an appalling noise. The contact person for the owner was notified 2 days ago and has done nothing Today neither the owner or the official contact person has answered the phone for the whole afternoon and evening. This accommodation is not worth more than 10 pound a night given the noise level. Also there is no privacy outside, garden furniture and outsidea area was not cleaned before arrival, breadbox was mouldy, there is a lack of designated car parking spaces (guest to stables can occupy all spaces during the day).

We are shocked, surprised and very sorry to receive this review as we pride ourselves on providing holiday accommodation at the levels demanded by our 4* Visit Britain accreditation, a quality standard that we try very to aspire to.
We accept that levels of noise are subjective and are sorry that the existing insulation between the units has been thought by these guests to be insufficient. This issue has never been raised by previous guests in either unit. We will look at increasing the sound insulation.
In our opinion the noise from the water pressure pump, situated in a cupboard the adjacent unit, was not at all intrusive being more like the hum of a normal domestic fridge. The guests in the unit which contains the water pump had not complained and indeed neither had the many previous guests staying in Whitedown or Pleasure Row.
Following the guest’s voicemail message received on Thursday evening 2 April, we visited them early on Good Friday morning, 3 April, and later the same morning advised them that the plumber had confirmed that a new water pump was probably required but this could not be fixed until the Tuesday after the Easter holiday which the guests agreed was understandable. As it was a Bank Holiday weekend it proved impossible to source a replacement and the work was scheduled to be carried out on Tuesday 7 April.
Although we advised the guests that we had taken action on Good Friday, this review was nevertheless posted on Easter Saturday afternoon 5 April, half way through a Bank Holiday weekend and before we were able to remedy the cause of the apparent noise in the water pump.
Regarding the other points made by this guest:
Lack of privacy outside – we show quite clearly on our website that all 5 holiday apartments share a courtyard style patio garden with designated areas for each unit. As this booking was made via our website we assume that guests have satisfied themselves as to the suitability of the accommodation before committing to a booking. We are very sorry if the guest feels that the garden furniture and sitting area had not been cleaned adequately and will check this.
Lack of designated parking spaces - normally there is plenty of parking available for all guests however, on occasion when the stables yard is busy, it may not be possible park adjacent to the property and one may have to park elsewhere on this quite large site. We have chosen not designate the parking bays because allowing cross parking between the stables and the Holiday Lets increases flexibility and therefore overall capacity. We will review this decision in response to this feedback.
Mould in breadbox - we are sorry but could find no trace of this when we found the breadbox which had been placed outside the unit.
We are of course very sorry also to hear that the subjective impact of these issues reduced our guest’s enjoyment of the holiday.
