I have stayed two times at this resort. Once in December, and once in June. The resort is very impressive. We were greeted at the front entrance as we drove up to the resort. On my first trip, I opted for luggage service to take our bags to the room. Seems you tip the person that gets your bags from your car, but that person only takes them over to the luggage service area, where you later go and present a ticket, and a different person then takes your bags to your room, (another person to tip). On my second stay, we took care of our own luggage, although they do still assist you with unloading at the front entrance, then you drive your car to their parking area, where it costs you $15 a day for parking, billed to your room.

You walk in across a captivating bridge that leads to the resort lobby, which is very spacious, but usually crowded around the 4:00 p.m. check-in time. They have some type of tropical flavored drink available in the lobby while you wait to check-in. Our room was clean and comfortable, and because I was staying 6 nights, they upgraded us to a room with a pool view instead of the parking lot view. Beds slept comfortable with large fluffy pillows. The room was really quiet. Bath towels were soft and large. Several miniature bottles of shampoo, conditioner, lotion, etc. LCD TV had plenty of HD channels. They give you a key to a small refrigerated cooler in your room, which is stocked with several drinks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic. If you use anything in that cooler, they will bill your room a $12.00 re-stocking fee. There are also a couple bottles of FIJI water on the counter, for $7.00 a bottle.

There are several restaurants on the resort premises, although we didn't take time to eat at them. There is an extraordinary lagoon style pool area, that has outdoor pool movies at night. They won't let you bring a personal cooler to the pool, another way of persuading you to buy your drinks and snacks from them at inflated prices.

There is wireless internet service available, although it will cost you $24.95 for a 3 day service in your room. There is free internet access in the lobby area, but it gets crowded in late evenings and the service tends to drop off easily there. I paid for the 3 day internet service in my room, then discovered that only the laptop that I used to pay the fee could connect. Other devices that your family may have will not connect without another paid fee.

The really great thing about staying here, is that you can use your room key as your "Express Pass" at the Universal theme parks. It's so nice to skip the regular lines, which can be a very long wait without the "Express Pass". Riding the water taxi from the resort to the theme parks is a pleasant experience compared to driving. The Universal City Walk area (also accessible using the water taxi) has plenty of entertainment, both night and day.

Everyone at the resort was very courteous. I was greeted by a smiling face every time I entered. Although the resort is expensive, I've paid comparable rates at many beach resorts with much less satisfaction. I was well satisfied and impressed on both of my stays at this resort. I think my only gripe would be all the extra fees for so many things that are inclusive at other resorts.

I've been to the Orlando area several times, stayed at Holiday Inn, Disney Resorts, and Universal Resorts. I would certainly choose the Loews Royal Pacific the next time I visit Orlando.

Room Tip: If you stay more than 3 nights, ask for a free room upgrade.

It started when we booked. Reservationist couldn't get us into Discovery Cove because she said it was full for our entire trip but with one phone call we got in. We were told transportation to Discovery Cove and Sea World was complementary. When we arrived we checked in and visited the concierge to reserve transportation to Discovery Cove and Sea World. Were told they discontinued the complementary trasnspo to DC and we would have to get there on our own. We did for a cab ride of $20 each way. On the morning we scheduled a visit to SW we got up early to catch the shuttle and were told it was full and that we should have booked it ahead of time. Why weren't we told this? Another $20 each way.

No airport transportation either. Again $20 each way.

Rooms were just ok.

The continental breakfast is expensive. We just feel as though we were nickle and dimed the entire time.

The only advantage, and it's a big one, is that if you stay at a on site property you get free fast passes at Universal.

We would not return. We'll try Portofino next time only because of the fast pass.

One last thing. The pool activities director was fantastic. The children really liked her.

We stayed 3 nights July 20-23. The place was big and we stayed in tower two. Furthest from the pool. We checked in about 2pm. No problem. Our room was a nice size and was clean. We took the boat from the hotel to Universal to get our tickets from the kioski
After talking to the boat driver we found out the first boat leaves 6:15 to get you into Harry Potter. He said it is very packed at that time. The next morning we decided to walk there are two paths one by the boat dock and one in front of the hotel. We left at 6:10 to beat the first boat. we were third in line by 620 At 7:00 they open the gate, by this time the line was very long. We went straight to the roller coaster my family got right on. I did not go. When they got off we went to the wand shop thing that line was long we didn't wait. By the time we left the line for the roller coaster was saying 40 minute wait. The line to the wand shop was much longer then earlier.
The front of the line pass could not be beat. It is in the summer and both parks were packed. We finished both parks and had time to go back to the hotel to go swimming.
The pool is big but the hotel has many people staying there so not much room plus the water was very warm not much relief from the hot air.
All in all we had a great stay. Nice employees, nice room we ate a Jake's one night. Food was good not cheap but not bad for resort food.
I would definatley stay there again. In the summer with lines of 30-120 minutes wait time in the hot sun when we had maybe a 5-10 minute wait it is a no brainer. Would never of made the whole park without the front of the line pass.

From the minute we were greeted at reception we were made to feel extremely welcome by all the hotel staff. The reception staff found out from our son that it was his birthday the next day and made a big fuss over him which was lovely. I had read that the rooms were small, but we found the room to be perfectly acceptable in size with 2 large queen beds in the room which were very comfortable and the room and bathroom were immaculately clean with ample big white fluffy towels to keep everyone happy.

The benefit of your room key being an express pass at Universal was just superb - we managed to see Hogwarts later in the evening when the crowds had reduced a fair bit and at that time in the evening the Harry Potter Magical World was truly magical. The express passes meant that we were also able to go straight onto the highly desired rides, such as, the Spiderman ride.

The tropical feel of the resort was fantastic. We ate in Jakes Bar and their attention to our 7 year old was excellent and the food was very very good. The water taxi to and from the hotel to the Universal parks made the wole stay seem much more leisurely also. The amenities within the hotel were exceptional, from the fantastic pool to the beachball pitch to the numerous restaurants and the feeling that you were a welcome guest from both the reception staff and concierge staff.

We will definitely return.
