Very nice place, a little spendy for my tastes, but with the Universal perks was worth it. At $300-500 per night surpised they nickel and dime you for things like wifi.

Just got back from a five-night stay, mainly to visit Universal. Was surprised at the amount of activities around the pool and throughout the hotel. A nice break for those returning from the parks. Like many others have said, early admission to WWoHP and Fast Pass are major reasons to stay here if your main intent is to visit the parks. We went on most rides 2-3 times. Lobby and common areas are very nice. Room was always clean and comfortable. Staff were mostly pleasant. Just a few minor quibbles keeping this review from being rated "Excellent:" would have been nice to have free wi-fi in the rooms instead of just the lobby, and $15 a day for parking seems a little exhorbitant. I'd expect that from big hotels in New York and major metro areas, but it wasn't like the Royal Pacific's lot was packed while we were there. Overall, happy with our stay, though.

Our family is checking out this morning from the Loews Royal Pacific Resort, and I'm already sad! The hotel is absolutely gorgeous, the staff is extremely friendly and accommodating (despite checking in 6 hours early, our room was ready and they immediately let us in). I will never visit Universal Studios again any other way. The early park admission to Harry Potter and the express pass on to all of the other rides, as well as the amenities and accommodations, made the added expense of staying on Universal property money WELL spent. It was a fantastic weekend before our stay at Walt Disney World. Wouldn't have done a thing differently. My only complaint is that the walls seemed a little thin (or the couple next to us were very loud), as we were woken up at 2:30 a.m. by a very loud phone conversation by the man next door to us.

Room Tip: We stayed on the 2nd floor, Leeward wing, and it was perfect access to everything.

The hotel has a very high standard of cleanliness and comfort, but feels rather impersonal. We were checked in efficiently and professionally but with little warmth or interest, we felt very much as though we were items on a conveyor belt passing through the system. Having said that, the room was very well appointed, modern and stylish with comfortable beds, and the overwhelming reason to stay here is for the early entry to the parks and fastpass system which enables you to bypass much of the queue lines. I understand that the Wizarding World of Harry Potter gets very crowded during the day, so the early entry was a real bonus as we were able to go straight there and experience everything there very easily. The boat ride to the parks was very efficient, and a blessing at the end of the day with tired legs!

Overall, I would stay here again but mainly for the convenience of visiting the parks rather than for anything the hotel itself offers, although it is most definitely a very pleasant place to return to after a hard day in the theme parks!

Room Tip: The tower near the boat launch is most convenient.

We stayed here in December 2011. We went during the most crowded week of the year (week between Christmas and New Year) but yet it didn't feel crowded and they allowed us to check in early. Service was stellar and the heated pool was nice and there were plenty of seats. I stayed at the Disney Beach Club two years ago and found their pool to be super packed and there was no place to sit so I prefer the Royal Pacific pool to the Disney Beach Club pool.

Pros
Location! Location! Location! - walking distance to the Universal Parks with a boat available for those who don't want to walk
Early Park admission -this was especially valuable because we were able to stroll into Harry Potter world and we didn't have to wait on line for anything
Nice heated pool for kids with a smaller quieter pol for adults
Emeril's on site restaurant had great food and relatively reasonable prices for a gourmet meal
Friendly attentive staff
Nice clean grounds and spotless room

Cons
The room was pricey. We paid over $400 (inc tax) which is a lot for a standard room
Room was small -especially for the price we paid

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would stay here again, esp if we can get a better deal. It was worth it since we were able to enjoy the Harry Potter exibits without having to endure ridiculous lines.
