Stayed for a week in a concierge double queen room (Hawaii building).

Room was great, big, comfortable, clean, nicely appointed, plasma tv, etc. We were on the 3rd floor so had a small balcony overlooking the lagoon. This gave us a perfect view of the magic kingdom castle and the nightly fireworks. While watching the fireworks from the room was great (however smokers next door ruined that) watching from the hammocks on the beach of the lagoon was the best way we found. We felt very safe letting our kids (14 &11) have the freedom to run around as they wanted in the hotel (to the pool, snacking in the concierge lounge), etc. Staff were all very friendly.

Rooms were expensive, but worth it. The food in the concierge lounge was quite good and filling. We still ate out some, but really didn't need to. Easy access to cokes, water, juice and iced tea was great.

All the disney people we talked to said that the Polynesian was their favorite, and I can relate now. I don't think my family would stay anywhere else when visiting Disney World... and we would do the concierge thing again as well.

This was our second stay at the Poly and it was just as magical as the first. We made sure to ask for a renovated room and it was fantastic. The wide screen lcd tv and the new colors made the great looking rooms even better.
We watched the fireworks at the magic kingdom from the resort and spent an afternoon relaxing in a pool cabana.
The quick-serve restauraut is being rennovated so the best prospect would be to go to the full-serve o'hana or Kona cafe (our fav). Or since you are on the monorail loop go to the other resorts for lunch/dinner.
There is just a special quality about this resort that is hard to put into words

Our family (two kids 9 and 7) stayed at the Polynesian for 6 nights at the end of July - we went for the concierge option and stayed in the Hawaii building. We liked the Poly a lot, it is clean, well maintained and the room was fine. It is expensive and certainly you will find hotels with nicer rooms and facilities for the same rate - however that is not why you are paying so much money. The joy of the Polynesian is the ease of access to the MK and Epcot. To be able to get to the parks in minutes and especially at this time of the year to be able to get back to the hotel in the middle of the day for a rest or a swim was invaluable.

We didnt need a car and hence we splashed out on the concierge - was it worth it? probably not in purely monetary terms but it was our first time in Disney and the staff were helpful in making bookings and giving general advice. It was also great to have breakfast available in the same building and to have a drink in the evening. Our children are picky eaters so we didn't make much use of the evening snacks but they were appetising and you could make a half decent meal out of them on a couple of nights. We didn't eat in Ohana but the Kona cafe is by Disney standards good value and has a nice menu for adults and kids. The Poly is definitely for families with young children, the pool is nice although it can get a bit crowded, and we would recommend it if only for the time and hassle you will save when getting to and from the MK and Epcot.

We have just returned from a week stay at the Polynesian concierge Hawian building room 1517.

We transferred there following a week at the Animal Kingdom Lodge just to break up our 2 week vacation.

The initial transfer was easy - bell services took our luggage at 11am from the Animal Lodge and took them over to the Polynesian so we didn't have any bags to carry, that was very nice service.

We didn't get into our room until 3pm, but we were told we had been given a free upgrade to the lagoon view side of the building and wow what a room!

A very very large, recently updated room with a nice big bathroom, a big fridge, coffee maker and supplies and a huge flat screen tv. The double patio doors opened right out onto the beach and we were right in front of the castle. It was lovely to be able to see the pageant and the fireworks from our room if the children had fallen asleep.

The concierge services were spot on as always. My children were treated to all the shows and dinners and character events they wanted and all I had to do was email concierge well in advance of our stay. They arranged everything perfectly. The Neverland club was a big hit with my 10 yr old, (my 3 yr old was too young). My daughter loved the "The Perfectly Princess Tea Party" at Grand Floridian with Sleeping Beauty. I don't think she will ever forget it - it was very very special.

I asked Concierge to squeeze us in the night before for a couple of extra character breakfasts or dinners and they always worked us in!

We were given a little chocolate picture of the Polynesian the night we arrived and chocolates in our room every night after that.

The house-keeping was fine (the only thing they couldn't supply was bath foam when I ran out) - on previous stays this has been supplied to concierge rooms - I guess they are cost cutting!

The Concierge lounge food was the same as always. Basic continental breakfast was ample - they have added 2 cappuccino/expresso machines now which was nice. Dinner is never really anything substantial - just savoury pickings, but its usually enough for the children just before they go to bed. I am certain that the savings in breakfast, cappuccinos and sodas for 4 people per day make up for the $100 extra cost for a concierge room and then you have all the personal service from their staff as well.

The location of the Poly to the TTC is easily walkable and with the monorail stop upstairs this is easily the best place to stay anywhere on the Disney property.

The Polynesian is best, we wouldn't consider staying anywhere else at Disney.

Overall: The resort is nice... for 1970. The grounds are kept very clean, with lush landscaping, but overall, the whole place needs a makeover. Fortunately, I was staying with a friend, because I would not pay $ 400.00 per night for the room or the resort. You can stay in nicer places for half that money.

Our main complaints: room not ready until 5 p.m., and they should not rent out rooms in buildings that they are renovating!! The hammering and noise started at 8 a.m. each day on the floor below us. Management did not seem to care and did nothing to try to make us happy.

The buildings are somewhat of a distance from the main lodge, depending on where you are staying, and you would think that between the extreme Florida summer heat and afternoon downpours, the walk ways would have some sort of cover on them but they don't.

They do have some activities in the lodge for the kids - I understand why now they are so prepared for the kids - because the parents and families usually spend hours there waiting for their rooms. The rooms are a pretty good size, but the ceiling fan did not work in ours, and I can say that overall the room is only slightly better than an average hotel.

The TV programming stinks. I realize that this is a Disney property, but the only shows on t.v. were the news, lifetime movies, sports, Disney shows, and more Disney advertising for their cruise line and vacation club.

If you are an average family, plan on at least $ 100.00 PER MEAL each day if you eat at the resort. All of the restaurants are overpriced, just like all the items in all of the stores on the grounds are overpriced.
