Don’t stay if you have a pet.

Review of Mainstay Suites
1.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 20 Jul 2022
We were traveling with a pet and had to pay the extra pet fee charge and then put in a stinky room. The first smelled of urine and the second had a musty/ mold smell. We thought if we turned on the AC and went and grabbed dinner it would be better. It was not and since we had the room over an hour we weren’t able to cancel. We would be charged for the full night. So you pay extra for having a pet and then get put in the worst rooms. The staff was friendly and the bed comfortable and clean.

A last minute sponatenous trip led us here to Mainstay suites as I hadn't had time to find a doggy sitter. This place was easy to get to, parking was great, breakfast was good, and all in all a very comfortable place. Best part was being able to bring Champ with us. He enjoyed the room too, and plenty of walking area and pet stations available. The best part was the "Letter to Furry Guests" written by the property manager. Very clever and cute! Would stay here again on our next visit!

Room tip: Pet friendly 1st floor room had small patio and easy access to walk the dog outside!

This is a great place to stay when you want to go scalloping in Port St Joe area. The rooms are lean, not too small, not too large. There’s room for a lotta boats at this property. We’ll be back, for scalloping as well as for general outdoor fun.

Room tip: There are 3 floors. I prefer first floor; it’s cooler & quiet (well insulated).

For a one night stay, it was fine. Staff was very friendly, room was nice, and breakfast had a great array of hot and cold choices. Also, coffee and light snacks are available throughout the day. Close to everything in town. However, and it's not just this hotel, but all in this area, in the summer, the rates are outrageous! We had to stay in town, but otherwise, for the price, over $200, would have chosen elsewhere. Again, it's all hotels in this area, but this is not a hotel that warrants that nightly price. However, our stay was fine and other than the price, nothing negative however and based on price, would stay again.

Room was fair, only one of the staff was friendly, the manager was not at all. Felt the cost was way to high for what you get. Don't have much choice in place to stay in Port St. Joe. Maybe if there were more motels their service and rooms would be considerably better, not to mention room cost.

Room tip: one room is no better than others.

Nice stay, feel at home with the ability to cook on a stovetop. Good for an extended stay for sure. Best spot in port saint joe to stay. Breakfast as well which means " oh yeah". Raise hell, praise Dale.
