This might be one of the best little “finds” in Punta Gorda. We were on our way to the Punta Gorda Airport (also great, by the way!) and as we came over the Charlotte Harbour bridge there was this great looking little blue beach-style house with a chalk board staring at us with a menu on it. We thought, why not try it out for a quick lunch before we fly off. We were blown away. The small blue beach house wasn’t open at the time and we were informed it is used for private party’s or meetings or overflow and open in the evenings. The main restaurant is in the larger orange walled building just behind it. You can’t miss it with this fabulous mural painting on the side. Great job there! When we walked inside there was a good crowd for lunchtime including a big office party going on and everyone was obviously having a great time. The decor appears to have been handled by a very professional design team. Full marks for the overall feeling and appearance of everything from the lighting to the table settings and the overall ambience. That does kind of put us on guard for a pricey tab but again we were very pleasantly surprised. We asked if we could sit outside as we noticed they had tables behind the blue beach house under the palm trees, no problem our waitress said. She took our drink order and we selected a nice Pinot Grigio from their menu which had a good selection. Then the chef himself actually came out to chat with us and we each ordered a sandwich from the lovely lunch menu. They brought our order out to us and the presentation was first class. Designer cutlery, heavy napkins and beautiful plates. The washrooms were also exceptional and clean. Another glass of wine and we were off to the airport. Our best surprise was the bill which we thought was very reasonable for what we received. We will return to Trabue anytime and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Punta Gorda area.
