I really enjoyed my stay at Song Of the Sea. It's a beautiful property with old world charm. There are three 2 story buildings which make it an intimate setting. The grounds have well-groomed lawns with gorgeous flowers and several bunnies I had a gulf view room on the 2nd floor overlooking the pool. I could see the ocean also. The room was clean, pretty and had a small kitchen. On arrival, you receive information on available amenities, which include free bicycles, free delicious breakfast, free beach towels and use of the sister property with tiki bar and pool. The beach is very nice and the staff sets up umbrellas and lounge chairs for your use early in the morning. They have an outside grill you can use and if you fish they even have a station where you can clean your catch. The staff was very accommodating and go out of their way to anticipate your needs. I will be booking another stay soon.

Stayed here for 4 days during a round trip in Florida - and this is our favorite. White sand and millions of shells. Nice crew, clean and nice rooms. Free sun beds, umbrellas, beach activities and bikes.
We'll be back some day!

My husband loves Sanibel and its history. We live near the beach in Bonita, but wanted to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary (we are over 65 "newlyweds"!!) in a special place. I chose this from web reviews, and have no regrets. Everything was just as we expected--and more so. We cooked lobster tails and shrimp in the kitchen, ate in style with a lovely view, and enjoyed the pool after a pleasant beach walk. Breakfast was a nice surprise, with many delicious and healthy choices. Atmosphere is just right, and location totally convenient. Planning a return with family in August.

Room Tip: Second floor has better views, but challenging accessibility.

We loved our stay... We booked our room thanks to Janet, whose professional demeanor allowed us to overlook some issues with the way the Inn's website displays information on room pricing. I will provide pros and cons of our stay.
Pros.... Friendly professional staff, continental breakfast, bikes (with locks), beach chairs and umbrellas, bottle of wine, kitchenette, safe in rooms for valuables, screened in balcony with two chairs, pool, onsite tiki bar (great burgers, friendly staff), quiet, clean beach, pristine grounds, cute bunnies hopping around, lots of sitting areas outside including a barbecue to grill.
Cons...... No sponges to wash dishes, sink is smaller than plates, your balconies need some sort of place to hang wet clothing (a retractable line would be nice), seats on the balconies are stiff and uncomfortable, seats in room are uncomfortable and heavy, having a battery operated wall clock by the bed was TORTURE (we took it off the wall every night to be able to sleep), you need more staff to clean rooms in a timely manner...... Our room was not cleaned daily.... Only trash was emptied, and bed made, but no dusting or sweeping.....not even a new toilet paper roll placed where an empty one stood..... I had to hang the shower curtain correctly, as it was hung inside out...... And, as others have observed, it is a shocker to walk into the room thinking you will see a living room, and you find a bed.... You need to change the pictures on your website so you don't mislead the public. I didn't use the washers or dryers...... But they looked old.....
Song of the Sea is a great place to stay, but you have to know what you are getting before you go. We chose to LOVE our stay..... We rode bikes, and enjoyed the beach and the quiet surroundings. IMHO the staff and location far outweigh the other disappointments..... The stay was pricey, resort fees and p/night rate is high; but, getting away from the city was well worth it for us. Shout out to Susie and Natalie.....part of the wonderful staff.

Room Tip: To get a good view of beach choose second floor.

Dear Meandering,

Thank you for taking a few minutes to share your experience with other travelers. I'm so glad that you enjoyed your visit to Song of the Sea and found so much to like about the Inn!

Your very nice comments, along with your complements to Janet, Susie, and Natalie, are much appreciated and will be shared with them.

Your comments and suggests on the "cons" side are also appreciated and will be taken into account as we address future updates to the property. Regarding the layout of your unit, many guests have told us that they prefer the larger area for their bed, with the 2nd room used for their sitting area/2nd bedroom but we also recognize that some guests have different preferences and will also consider this in future improvements. Finally, I apologize for and am addressing the quality of our housekeeping service, as well as our washers and dryers - you may be glad to hear that we are getting all new dryers very soon!

Again, thank you for the very thorough review. We look forward to seeing you again very soon.

Sincerely,

MY husband and I chose this accommodation with help of reviews by fellow trip advisors.
Parts of staying here were really quite lovely. I just have to say our very first impression of room was a little disappointing. The thing that Bothered us the most was the very small side room they have. It smelled REAL musty and the couch was stained. the tiny tv up in the corner of room well we tried to sit there and said really its just not a pleasant comfortable room. Because we brought nice clothes to renew our vows the musty smell where the dresser and closet were concerned us, that smell never went away. the alarm clock was broke the one they replaced it with was broke . so we used our phones. The room area with Bed was beautiful. Bathroom seemed like a great new and remodeled. grounds just so pretty easy walk to beach, Our favorite part was the continental breakfast, adorable area to sit outside, easy good simple food. We DID enjoy ourselves. For us personally we much prefer larger room and or separate sitting area especially for the price and no we don't spend a lot of time in room but we are not out partying all night we are back in room by 10 or so and like to watch tv. Also a important note is this place is located at what I have heard others say more quiet end of island and I agree, your not far from lighthouse at all and the area is so cozy. And if your looking for more romantic This is the way to go.

Room Tip: Quiet area. Better view from upper rooms. Lower room beachfront easy access right to beach

Dear Diane,

Thank you for being our guest at Song of the Sea! While I'm glad you enjoyed your stay overall and found so many aspects of your room and the property to your liking, I'm sorry that your first impressions of the sitting area in your room were not to your expectations and that you had an issue with the alarm clock. If you would be so kind as to let me know what unit you were in, I will look into the issues you noted right away (contact information below) and please know that the issues were truly exceptions to our guest experience.

Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review - we look forward to welcoming you back soon.
