“Worth the hike”

A very nice trail on the lower falls, leads to a wonderful waterfall 3/4 of a mile from the start. The upper falls are even better, but the 1/4 of a mile is much more strenuous as it is almost straight up. You can see on the way up were storm damage has affected the trail. If you are in the area and are up to the challenge I would find the time to stop by this area.

Trail is well laid-out for most anyone who can walk up and down inclines. Children and pets find it a lot of fun, too! Parking lot is paved and there are lots of picnic areas and restrooms (not the kind you find in department stores, but the kind you find in camping areas and parks).

Currently due to the recent storm the upper falls is not available. the lower falls hike was a short uphill walk, fun, but not amazing.

Headed down from Hiawasee yesterday to take in Falls around Vogel State Park . Started with Desoto and found they were closed due to damage from Hurricane Irma. According to ranger , lower falls trail has felled large tree across trail . Middle falls deck totally destroyed . Ranger said it’ll be a long while to repair . Suggest calling NFS to check on progress before heading out for hike . Campgrounds still in great shape though
