We took a road trip out west to visit our son and daughter-in-law on the coast. On the way, my husband wanted to visit the area where he worked Summers after college - in the area near Orofino. He recommended the Konkolville Hotel based on his experience there 40 years ago. The hotel was the least expensive of the many places we stayed on our trip and my expectations were not high.

Boy was I wrong. The Konkolville is a real gem. It is not fancy and the furniture in the room was dated and mismatched. And it was spotlessly clean. I am talking immaculate. The bed was very comfortable and we had one of the best night's sleep of the entire trip at the Konkolville.

The patio area was lovely- pretty potted plants and a nice water feature. Again, the patio furniture was not fancy but sitting on the patio as the sun went down and the moon rose over the tree covered mountains was magical. If you have the chance to grill your steaks do it. We didn't and regretted it. The temp was in the 90's that day and we didn't want to cook on the grill and then eat outside on the patio. But some guests grilled their steaks and then ate in the air conditioned lobby area. Big mistake on our part.

Breakfast was relatively simple when compared to the chains' breakfasts. However, it was more than enough and was set out in a neat and appealing manner. There were muffins, hard-boiled eggs, toast and juice and coffee.

I hope we can make the Konkolville and surrounding area as our destination. I really loved this place!

We began our motorcycle trip though Idaho here. It was a fantastic place. Joe (the owner) was gracious and friendly. The rooms were quite excellent....spacious with wonderful beds. The "crown" of our visit was the "barbeque your own steak" dinner (which was a 16-ounce New York steak with baked potato and salad) - hand cut and provided by Joe. The steaks were $17 each and the rooms were $76 for a king. Best deal of our 10 day road trip.

This is a pretty nice motel and the price is right. The rooms are very clean and in good shape with WiFi and cable TV. Just out of town so it's quiet. With the free breakfast and very friendly personnel, it's great. Best place for the price in this area.

Room Tip: Request a room away from the laundry unless you don't mind a little noise on rare occassions.

Stayed here on a Sunday so no cook your own steak available unfortunately. Rooms are very clean with 70s vibe. Nice pool and lounging area for visiting. A ways out of Orofino if you have to go back for supplies or supper. Owner was helpful and polite. Biker friendly. Breakfast ok , no fruit and no real orange juice. Rooms seemed guiet.

I keep hoping that I will find a significant gem of an enroute place to rest .. alas! It won't happen! This Mormon owned property features a comfortable bed and the 1950's sized room. Everything works. The room is clean and the internet is fast once you connect ... which was a battle.

Tang subs for OJ. A nice blueberry muffin, bottled water is .75. One of those pancake flippy things that makes not sure what from Elmer's Glue cups of old batter. The proprietress will be more than grateful to snap your head off if you even remotely exert a question so don't. The price is ok for the bed quality.
