Brilliant course in County Durham... Wonderful condition, very fast greens some very demanding holes all set in a beautiful setting. Met the vice captain in the bar afterwards a very nice chap... Recommend a visit!

Visited the course for a mixed open with a group of friends. No complaints about the course, it was interesting and challenging. Shame about the welcome in the Pro Shop or lack of it. I don't expect much but I don't expect to feel like Im a nuisance for turning up. The bar staff were friendly enough and the bar food was good.

We visited this club to play in their mixed open. No welcome for visitors in fact the pro could hardly be bothered to look up to check us in. In the clubhouse we had to find some staff to get cups so we could have a coffee. There was no starter on the course so we had no idea about yardages or whether there were toilet facilities on the course. As visitors we were made to feel that we were a nuisance and all they wanted was our money. Course was not in good condition either with divots everywhere and grass cut unevenly. Would not visit again even if it was free!

I returned to Brancepeth for one of their Opens and found a wonderful and warm welcome. The Club House is wonderful, cleverly adapted from ancient courtyard buildings and they serve a good range of tasty and affordable golfers snacks and meals.

The course itself was in very good condition (despite 24 hours of rain two days earlier) and is a credit to the Greens Team. The greens were fantastic, tricky to read and fast a real challenge for any golfer.

In fairness I had forgotten how good this course is, there are no two holes alike, the trees are majestic, there is abundant wildlife and every now and again the Castle comes into view.

It's definitely back on my Opens Rota.
