Sure, it's hip and cool. Sure, it's a Rick Bayless restaurant. But after Frontera Grill and Topolobampo, this was a letdown. Service was not that attentive. The food was just plain. Even being next door to his other place, Lena Brava, which is supposedly a superstar right now, I thought this would be a no-brainer culinary delight. Instead, it was ho-hum. Are we jaded after feasting delightedly at his other places? Whatever the case, the tlaycuda, queso and fish tacos just seemed soulless. Funny thing was, we saw him in this restaurant while we were eating. Maybe he was there to hopefully make some changes and bring it back into the fold of excellence because the other two we experienced were awesome.

We went to Cruz Blanca after a tour in Chicago. We love the food! We have tried many different tacos, the tostadas and the ceviche. Everything was delicious. We stop here before going to Blackhawk games and we have never had to wait long which makes it one of my favorite places. If you love beer, the selections here will not disappoint. Some of my friends are not beer drinkers and this restaurant has great cocktails along with house wine. Check out taco Tuesday and daily specials--Cruz Blanca will not disappoint you. We did have a bit of a service issue when we had to remind our server when we didn't get an order. Overall, it is a great price for beer and food and we will visit again.

This place doesn't deserve one star....My boyfriend and I went to Cruz Blanca last night (3/13/18) and it was the worst service we have ever experienced at a restaurant. We came in and asked the host how long the wait would be, she said 25 minutes. We then asked if it was ok to go upstairs next door to Lena Brava for a drink while we waited, the host said yes she would come find us upstairs (she was not busy by any means, it was just us). An hour and 10 minutes went by and we proceeded downstairs and asked for the Manager. She apologized and said it was a miscommunication and our table would be ready soon (was not a miscommunication at all) she did nothing to make it better. We sat down and ordered our food and drinks, I ordered a margarita and it came a half hour later and the waiter apologized, he never put the drink in in the first place. In the end, we got two growlers which took forever to get and they said we didn't pay for them when we did pay and tipped 33%, they then realized we did and apologized. We had to tell each person we were working with to let them know it was the worst service and to tell the manager since she refused to come talk to us and kept hiding in the corner. We are extremely disappointed in the service we got, as it was the worst we had ever experienced. More than anything, the manager was completely awful and was acting like it was her first day on the job. Please review your staff and especially the manager, as we will never be back again and will not recommend to anyone.

I can here on a Saturday evening, not too busy as we did have reservations. The food was great, loved the different choices and flavors they had to offer. The beer did not disappoint. I'm not much of a beer drinker but was impressed! The staff was very nice and helpful, Highly recommend coming!

We just had some tacos here after going to a hockey game. We had barbecue, pastor and shrimp. They're not the best tacos I've ever had but they were pretty good and I really liked they were all different, with clear distinct flavors. There is an obvious effort in making them distinguishable. Barbecue had this lovely slow-cooked beef, shrimp had been sauteed with garlic and pastor had a firm smoky profile that matched well with the caramelised and the pinneapple. I had a glass of sparkling; it was surprising to find such a serious and competent brand as Gramona (catalan cava) by the glass. Not cheap, around $50 (including a salad and some tortilla chips) but very well done.
