We went at mid day and the queues were horrendous, an hour queueing and we were no nearer getting in, it was cold and windy, there were no restrooms (toilets) outside and the Americans have no concept of waiting patiently, the people running the queue would walk halfway down a queue and detach the line and lead them into another door and they went straight in, we were just bypassed and were now at the back of our queue, never got in and walked away disappointed

Always a great visit. We highly recommend becoming a member if you have at least 2 people in your party as there is a separate entrance and you don't have to wait in what generally is a 'very' long line with general admission. The door to join is the same as the door to enter for members. For a few $ more you can cut 1 hour or more off the wait easily. Not much different price if you travel with 2 kids/spouse or visit more than 1 time a year.
The exhibits are first class but one area we are disappointed in is that they seem to pack as many people in as can fit which means that most of the exhibits are very, very crowded. One would also wonder if packed over capacity. The belugas are amazing to see and sometimes the show is superb and more dramatic than others. Don't miss visiting the Wild Reef which is accessible by taking the elevator off the center area down 1 floor. I think this is the only way in and out so easy to miss it.

Hour long wait, Wall to Wall people inside, too crowded to even be safe. I prefer Oregon coast aquarium but this one does have international exhibits. I’ve never seen a museum so crowded. Like Disneyland.

We’re sorry to hear your visit didn’t go as expected. We tend to be busier this time of year with schools being on spring break. During these busy periods we recommend visiting early in the day and pre-purchasing tickets online to gain priority entry. Thank you for your feedback!

Shedd Aquarium was one of the largest aquariums I've ever visited and had an amazing amount of animals and exhibits. The map and the signs clearly labeled what "section" you were in and what animals would be found in those regions. The dolphin/whale tank was very fun and it was interesting and exciting to see beluga whales in an aquarium. I also enjoyed the art featured throughout the museum made from plastic that had washed ashore. Not only was it eye-opening, but it was executed well and looked great! As you can see from the pictures from this review, the museum was extremely busy the day we went. It was actually unpleasant because there were people constantly pushing past you and always in front of the displays so it was hard to really learn about what we were seeing. Unfortunately this took away from our experience and made us hurry to leave since we couldn't really take our time to see what was in each exhibit. It took every bit of 2.5 hours just to get through it the way we did. Overall, the exhibits that we did get to see were great and it was definitely a must-see on my list. The place was pretty clean for it being so busy and the decor was intricate and beautiful. I highly recommend buying tickets in advance so you can skip the huge line out front.

We went on a Saturday with 2 kids and an infant in stroller. I think it was definitely fun for the older kids but it was insanely busy and overall the facility is not super stroller/wheelchair friendly. They have elevators but they are slow and the amount of people they let in makes it very hard to navigate even non-exhibit areas. Fun but would recommend for older kids.
