Owner description: Boldly interweaving exhibitions, performances, collections, and educational programs, the MCA is an innovative and compelling center of contemporary art where the public can directly experience the work and ideas of living artists, and understand the historical, social, and cultural context of the art of our time.

On our first visit students were installing Sol Lewitt's garden. We return for exhibits that push the envelope of contemporary art. This is a true learning experience for many and will inspire conversation and introspection. Take the plunge.

This is one of Chicago's must-see places, if you like art work that makes you think, or wonder, or even laugh. The Museum's store is an exhibit in itself, and well-worth a look. We saw items for sale there that we'd not seen before. No need to pay to go into the store either. If you don't appreciate contemporary art, do not go, because you will not like it.

It's not the largest museum of its kind in the world. You can walk through it in about 90 minutes, or less, if you are in a hurry, but my wife and I thought that the museum and its art work had merit. Photography is allowed, as long as the flash is turned off.
Parts of the building itself are worth photographing.

If you appreciate the "odd," and the "varied," you will find something of value to see here. The entrance price is about average, less for seniors and students, and free for Illinois residents.

Visit the Museum's web site to see which artists are being featured during your visit.

My adult son enjoys contemporary art so wherever we are in the world, we visit one. There is usually a few pieces I think are great/interesting. The admission fee was $8 each for a senior and a student.
I just shook my head when I saw a piece of paper with numbers from 1-6,300 considered as art. Basketballs in a tank of water? Brooms sprayed black with spots hanging from the ceiling? Video of a shirtless man hugging a large fish? The museum was small and did either of us find anything slightly of interest....absolutely not

Rate of $15, it was nice, I have never been in that kind of place. It has a lot of strange paints, sculptures and videos.

It’s walking distance from the water tower mall. We went thru the whole museum within less than an hour. Not a lot to see on each floor. Some naked pictures so maybe not take the kids. If you do go, go on tuesdays when Illinois residents get in free.
